However, macroscopic synthesis of carbon materials for industrial use has been a great challenge. Therefore, a comprehensive discussion of the various allotropes of carbon (fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and graphene), synthesis techniques (arc discharge, laser ablation, and chemical vapour deposition), and their applications in energy-related fields (batteries, capacitors, photocells, hydrogen storage, sensors, etc.) and their impending prospects is necessary.<\/p>\n\n<p>Presently, carbon nanomaterials and their derivatives have received special attention. This can be attested by voluminous results and many publications. Their excellent properties such as optical, mechanical, chemical, and electrical are unmatched by any conventional material.
