UNAIR NEWS<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 51动漫<\/a>\u00a0 66th Community Service Program \u2013 Learning with Community (KKN-BBM)\u00a0 held a community service in Lojejer Village, Wuluhan Sub-district, Jember Regency on Friday, July 29, 2022.\u00a0The survey showed that the village is an area with low flood resistance in Jember Regency.\u00a0Therefore, nine UNAIR students held a biopore infiltration hole training to minimize the flood problem.<\/p>\n\n

Ivan Maulana Pratama, the person in charge and presenter of the activity, said that the flood was caused by the lack of open land for water absorption. In Lojejer Village, several drainage channels do not flow smoothly. Therefore, technology is needed to minimize the occurrence of high-risk floods.<\/p>\n\n

In his presentation, he explained that biopore infiltration hole is a simple technology to increase the absorption of rainwater into the soil. This technology is in the form of a cylindrical hole that is made vertically into the ground.<\/p>\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n

\u201cThe hole can increase water absorption, and convert organic waste into compost, and increase the amount of clean water reserves in the soil,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

In placing the biopore infiltration holes, Ivan said, they can be identified from the water flow. The water flows from the highlands to the lowlands. Therefore, the biopore infiltration holes can be placed at the lowest position in the region.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe recommended holes are in drains, around trees, and sides of fences. This is to prevent overflowing water from entering the residents\u2019 homes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n

Tools and biopore infiltration hole making method<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Ivan continued, the tools and materials are quite easy to obtain. Several residents in their respective homes often have them. The tools needed are a soil drill, PVC pipe, PVC pipe cover, soldering iron to make holes in PVC pipes, and organic waste.<\/p>\n\n

Ivan explained, making this biopore infiltration hole did not take long and there were no difficulties in the process. The steps are as follows:<\/p>\n\n

  1. Prepare a 50cm long PVC pipe with a diameter of 10cm\/4inch. Then, punch holes in the PVC pipe with soldering iron until the pipe is full of holes.<\/li>
  2. Make a cylindrical hole using a soil drill vertically into the soil with a depth of 50cm with a diameter of 10cm, and the distance between holes is about 50-100cm. Next, insert the PVC pipe into the hole.<\/li>
  3. Fill the pipe with organic waste from kitchen waste, plant debris, or leaves. Then, cover it with a wire filter\/PVC cap perforated at the top. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n

    Ivan added that the biopore infiltration holes must have regular maintenance, namely by cleaning the leaves and organic waste that covers the top of the infiltration hole, so that water can enter the hole. Then, if the contents of the hole have begun to decrease or shrink due to the weathering process, then organic waste needs to be added to fill the hole. (*)<\/p>\n\n
