UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> – The Faculty of Humanities (FIB) 51动漫<\/a>\u2019s efforts for internationalization have finally paid off. The 2023 Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS WUR) by Subject has placed the Faculty of Humanities UNAIR as the national first rank in Linguistics subject at the position of 301-320 worldwide.<\/p>\n\n

QS WUR By Subject sets six minimum indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty\/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty, and international students.<\/p>\n\n

Long journey<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Purnawan Basundoro SS MHum stated that the faculty had made various efforts to compete globally since it was established in 1999. However, similar faculties that were previously established with more available resources also made improvements.<\/p>\n\n

Following the policies, the Faculty of Humanities runs various programs to support UNAIR in achieving the reputation of a world-class university.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cFrom that point, the Faculty of Humanities continues to develop, making effective, international programs and conducting partnerships with the leading universities worldwide. All of our programs were carefully planned, carried out, and handled well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

Multiple strategies<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

In the past five years, the Faculty of Humanities has conducted multiple strategies to enhance the resources of its academic community. The faculty strengthens the solidarity of the faculty community, including the lecturers, administrative staff, students, and alumni, to achieve the vision and mission.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThey must have a strong sense of unity as a family of the Faculty of Humanities. Each individual must work according to their respective duties and functions to achieve the faculty\u2019s vision and mission,\u201d said the Dean and Historical Science lecturer.<\/p>\n\n

Once the internal strength of the faculty and each member has performed their duties well, the Faculty of Humanities strengthens its power by establishing cooperation agreements with external parties, including the government institutions in Surabaya, East Java, and Indonesia, and international partners.<\/p>\n\n

The idea goes beyond the cooperation agreement. Implementing the project according to the three pillars of higher education is the most important thing. <\/p>\n\n

Flagship programs<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Prof. Purnawan stated that the Faculty of Humanities had designed three flagship programs. First, collaboration with international academic partners by holding global-scale events, such as conferences, seminars, studium generale, adjunct professors, and collaboration with alumni to design academic and non-academic activities.<\/p>\n\n

Second, the Faculty of Humanities increases its international publication through journal writing trainings for the lecturers, collaborative research with international partners, enrolling lecturers to obtain doctoral degrees and sending the lecturers and staff abroad for non-degree activities such as seminars and conferences through outbound staff programs.<\/p>\n\n

Third, internationalization through student outbound by sending students to various international programs and international student admission (student inbound).<\/p>\n\n

Expectations<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Prof. Purnawan expressed his most immense gratitude for the remarkable achievement. \u201cThis proves that every sincere effort will yield a sincere result. The result is worth the effort,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

In addition, Prof. Purnawan also expressed his satisfaction with the achievement. \u201cWe dedicate this achievement to the academic community of the Faculty of Humanities and 51动漫. Besides, it\u2019s our accountability to society,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n

Nevertheless, the dean still hopes to improve the achievement. \u201cActually, the ranking for the Arts and Humanities field can be much better, that\u2019s my dream in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

He also hopes that other fields of science, like History, Ancient History, Modern Language, and many more, will achieve top positions at the national ranking as well in the future.<\/p>\n\n
