{"id":205032,"date":"2023-05-02T11:31:59","date_gmt":"2023-05-02T04:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/unair-lecturer-discusses-how-to-prevent-and-control-avian-influenza\/"},"modified":"2023-05-03T11:08:23","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T04:08:23","slug":"unair-lecturer-discusses-how-to-prevent-and-control-avian-influenza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/unair-lecturer-discusses-how-to-prevent-and-control-avian-influenza\/","title":{"rendered":"UNAIR Lecturer discusses how to prevent and control Avian Influenza"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>UNAIR NEWS \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Poultry and Bird Veterinary Interest Group,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fkh.unair.ac.id\/\">Faculty of Veterinary Medicine<\/a>\u00a0(FKH)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/\">51动漫<\/a>\u00a0(UNAIR) held a webinar, Kuliah with Ubur (KUTUB), on Monday, May 1, 2023.\u00a0The webinar raised the issue of Avian Influenza: Monitor, Examine, and Prevent the Spread of Avian Influenza.<\/p>\n\n<p>Virology lecturer at UNAIR Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Martia Rani Tacharina drh Msi explained that the first discovery of the Avian Influenza virus occurred in America in 2022 and was transmitted through poultry. Similar cases then occurred in Chile to Cambodia, and even claimed lives. <\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cIf you look in the WHO\u00a0report, in 2023 in Cambodia, there were two infected and one died.\u00a0If we read here,\u00a0136 fatal cases attack humans.\u00a0Fatal means resulted in death,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n<p>She continued that the Avian Influenza virus that infected humans has not been detected in Indonesia. Nevertheless, she said the virus appeared in Kalimantan and infected poultry.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cIn Indonesia, the first case was Peking duck in South Kalimantan in May 2022. That\u2019s been confirmed,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Late action<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p>Martia said that one of the causes of Avian Influenza infecting humans was the delay in prevention. According to her, the virus must be overcome while still infecting animals. <\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cThe weakness of almost everyone worldwide, if\u00a0the outbreak\u00a0is still in animals, it is not noticed.\u00a0However, as soon as it attacks humans, WHO takes action that requires the urgency of handling\u00a0this AI\u00a0\u00a0outbreak,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n<p>For these reasons, she put forward several steps to control the spread of Avian Influenza so that the virus does not infect humans, especially in Indonesia.\u00a0The first step is\u00a0regular and integrated\u00a0monitoring<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cSo there must be cooperation between breeders, poultry traders, the ministry of agriculture, the animal husbandry service, testing centers, and also quarantine,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n<p>Furthermore, optimizing vaccination and stamping out. The breeders can do this step regularly.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cVaccine administration must be regular and timely.\u00a0Because if it\u2019s antibodies, those antibodies need to be improved and need to be\u00a0boosted<em>.\u00a0<\/em>So before it goes down, it is maintained high.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cStamping out\u00a0by means of depopulation with\u00a0euthanasia\u00a0using CO<sub>2<\/sub>.\u00a0So we have to stun them first with CO2<sub>,<\/sub>\u00a0then burn the carcass,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n<p>The last is reporting and counseling. If there is a suspected case of Avian Influenza, the public can immediately report it to the relevant agency. In addition, the government and related agencies must also disseminate the information about Avian Influenza to the public.
