UNAIR NEWS<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Master of Economics student, Faculty of Economics and Business,\u00a051动漫<\/a>\u00a0(UNAIR), Alyssa Chiara Handini Tandy attended the 2023 International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture, Food, and Energy (SAFE). The event was held offline in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Sunday, May 28, 2023. to Monday, May 29, 2023.<\/p>\n\n

The Asia Pacific Network for Sustainable Food and Energy in collaboration with Andalas University and Maejo University organized the conference. The aim is to share experiences and ideas about sustainability in the agriculture, food, energy, and related disciplines.<\/p>\n\n

In the interview on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, Alyssa explained that the conference did not only invite students. Even though she went with her colleagues, many academics with various backgrounds attended the conference. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cI went to Thailand with five other friends from\u00a0the 2022 FEB UNAIR Economics fast track. <\/em>So this is\u00a0a conference\u00a0where all academics with different backgrounds and same interests are brought together,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n

Alyssa explained that the conference differed from competition as no one emerged as a winner or won an award.\u00a0Instead, the research they presented in articles will be published in\u00a0Scopus-indexed international journals.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThere were no award nominations, but I presented a related\u00a0paper\u00a0in front of\u00a0the audience\u00a0guided by a professor from Chiang Mai University.\u00a0I\u00a0made\u00a0a\u00a0paper\u00a0but not for a competition, but later\u00a0the\u00a0paper\u00a0will be published\u00a0in Scopus-indexed\u00a0proceedings,<\/em>\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n

Raising the topic of Korean culture influence on Food Exports<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Alyssa revealed that her writing was based on South Korean culture, which is booming internationally, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand (ASEAN).\u00a0The Korean wave, she called it, had a lot of influence on various sectors, including food exports.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cFor\u00a0the paper\u00a0I wrote, the title is \u201cThe Impact of the Korean Wave on Exports of South Korean Food Commodities to ASEAN-5 Countries\u201d, where I explain the influence of\u00a0Korean pop,\u00a0k-drama, and others on food commodity exports to ASEAN countries,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n

With that article, she intends to scientifically prove the influence of\u00a0the Korean wave\u00a0on the exports of food commodities.\u00a0In her study, she considers several variables such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, interest rates, and Google search trends from 2010 to 2020.<\/p>\n\n

Nevertheless, Alyssa still cannot reveal the results she obtained from her research as it has not been published yet, so it would be safer if the results were discussed after it is published. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t yet tell you the paper\u2019s contents\u00a0because it\u2019s still\u00a0under review\u00a0and hasn\u2019t been\u00a0published yet.\u00a0<\/em>Hopefully, it can be\u00a0published\u00a0as soon as possible so that it can be a reference,\u201d she concluded.\u00a0(*)<\/p>\n\n
