The Senior Scientist at the University of Oxford delivered her speech \u2018Advances in Vaccine Manufacturing Technology: Meeting Global Needs and Beyond\u2019.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dr. Carina stated that the world is struggling to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, like COVID-19. The researchers have conducted various efforts to address these challenges, one of them is vaccine development.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eef5c055f1b6ef853e30cec5d20ef2b3\"><strong>Using AI<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>Vaccine research and development have evolved significantly, notably leveraging AI technology. AI, especially Machine Learning, has made a significant impact and is capable of addressing the hurdles faced by traditional vaccine development.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cAI, particularly Machine Learning, can analyze vast amounts of data, delve into genetic information to identify potential vaccine targets, determinants, antigens, and also vaccine candidates,\u201d Dr. Carina said in her scientific orations at the Garuda Mukti Auditorium, MERR-C Campus.<\/p>\n\n<p>She believed that the Machine Learning algorithm would process the genetic data swiftly and more efficiently. The speed will simplify the initial stages of vaccine design and accelerate the identification of potential targets through to actual vaccine development.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cLarge volumes of genetic data of vector pathogens and variations among strains can be efficiently processed by Machine Learning algorithms. Therefore, Dr. Carina emphasizes the importance of rapid vaccine development and distribution to narrow down critical periods during pandemics.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b22ba41c0477314e43c6410e3ca5ff1a\"><strong>AI predictions<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>The Machine Learning algorithms can predict the potential side effects of vaccine candidates. The approach ensures the quality of the whole vaccine development and a guaranteed outcome.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cVaccine designs that leverage predictive modeling allow researchers to evaluate the potential effectiveness of vaccine candidates more rapidly. Predictive models are generated based on various input data ranging from genetic information to vaccine development mechanisms,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n<p>The AI technology has become an integral element in preparing for pandemics.
