They discussed the upcoming general election process in Indonesia through the Election Watch program. Faculty members and active students from PSU visited Indonesia to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW160932711 BCX0\">observe<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW160932711 BCX0\"> the political dynamics<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW160932711 BCX0\"> directly<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW160932711 BCX0\">. The Election Watch event organized by FISIP serves as a crucial platform for PSU academics to gain in-depth insights into Indonesia&#8217;s electoral system and politics.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW160932711 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>Assistant Professor Dr. Anwar Koma, a lecturer from PSU, stated that before coming to Indonesia, he conducted research through articles, YouTube videos, and emails about the Election Watch program. &#8220;Before coming, I read emails and listened to analyses of elections in Indonesia briefly through online media,&#8221; he said. The Election Watch event provides an opportunity for faculty members to directly observe the electoral process that takes place every five years in Indonesia. <\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-ID\" xml:lang=\"EN-ID\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\">During their visit, Prof. Anwar explained the direct involvement between <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\">lecturers<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\"> and students who are engaged in fieldwork through study groups. This process is implemented to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\">facilitate<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\"> discussions between PSU students and faculty members in <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\">observing<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\"> the elections. This activity serves as a reciprocal exchange from the study program&#8217;s visit to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\">observe<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW27824093 BCX0\"> elections in Thailand in 2023.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW27824093 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;The lecturers decided to implement study groups where members consist of lecturer and students before coming here. This was chosen to facilitate our discussions,&#8221; he explained. <\/p>\n\n<p>The visit of PSU faculty members and students aims to gain a deeper understanding of the general election system in Indonesia. Through their visit, lecturers want to directly observe the students&#8217; knowledge from field practices in Indonesia. Supervising lecturers want to see to what extent the students&#8217; knowledge can be applied in field practices. Additionally, through the Election Watch organized by FISIP, students are expected to gain new insights, especially in the context of general elections, and understanding new theories that are directly applied on-site. <\/p>\n\n<p>UNAIR FISIP, especially the Political Science Study Program, has successfully provided space for international academics to understand Indonesian politics.
