UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Artificial Intelligence (AI) has <\/span>been<\/span> a phenomenon dominating the Information Technology (IT) sector. Rather than just supporting technological advancements, AI also poses a threat to certain professions. In an interview with UNAIR News on March 1, 2024, <\/span>Dr.<\/span> Gancar<\/span> Candra <\/span>Premananto<\/span> SE <\/span>MSi<\/span>, Head of the Department of Management <\/span>at<\/span> FEB UNAIR<\/a>, revealed that AI developments could <\/span>change<\/span> professions in the business and digital realms.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

“At present, several business professions could disappear with the advent of AI, such as assistants, scriptwriters, creative consultants, and many more. To anticipate this, the Department of Management at FEB UNAIR has prepared students to manage businesses with AI support,” stated the Management Program Director at UNAIR. <\/p>\n\n

UNAIR Management <\/span>AI readiness<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n\n

According to <\/span>Gancar<\/span>, UNAIR Management has taken several steps to support community readiness in <\/span>utilizing<\/span> AI. These include sending faculty members to obtain professional AI for Business competency certifications and offering courses to educate students about the urgency of digitization and AI.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

“We conduct teaching and learning activities to accommodate AI usage as personal assistants, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For undergraduate students, we provide courses in Digital Literacy and Business, Digital Transformation. Meanwhile, for master’s students, we offer Business Information Systems courses,” he said.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

FEB UNAIR Management <\/span>also <\/span>organizes various international seminars with practitioners and collaborates with <\/span>Universiti<\/span> Sains Malaysia (USM) to support the use of AI in the workforce. “For us, technological advancement is not something to be avoided. Instead, it should be used as a supporting factor for business progress. Therefore, FEB UNAIR plans to provide certification training for AI-based research competency in the future,” he concluded.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In line with this, Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia SE Ak MSi, Dean of FEB UNAIR, emphasized that FEB UNAIR students should be able to leverage technology as a driving force of their business success. “Therefore, we send faculty members to obtain competency certifications that accommodate current developments. We also design teaching and learning processes that not only focus on classical methods but also provide real experience in using technology,” stated the Dean of FEB UNAIR. <\/p>\n\n

Students <\/span>b<\/span>enefit<\/span> from AI<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

The efforts made by the department are not in vain. One of the Master of Science in Management students at FEB UNAIR, Nur Habibah Zain, stated that the collaboration in using AI created an enjoyable learning experience. <\/p>\n\n

“I am grateful that the Department of Management does not turn a blind eye to various futuristic developments. The use of AI in learning makes classroom discussions <\/span>more lively<\/span>. Various alternative solutions are discussed in more depth with the critical thinking of each student, enriching the scope of understanding and increasing opportunities for implementing <\/span>new ideas<\/span>. The use of AI in learning makes us accustomed to using existing technology, making learning more effective and efficient,” she expressed.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

FEB UNAIR student, Valina Sinka Irawan, also revealed that AI made learning and daily tasks easier for her. <\/p>\n\n

“It is undeniable that AI has now become part of everyday life, not only in learning but also at work. Like when the Internet first appeared, it was something strange yet useful for facilitating human work,” said the FEB UNAIR student. <\/p>\n\n

According to <\/span>Valina<\/span>, the use of AI is not a sin but rather a way to <\/span>utilize<\/span> technological advancements. “The use of AI is not like a search engine but trains students to create comprehensive prompts. Thus, AI can provide comprehensive references according to learning standards. We should adapt to changes to avoid being displaced by technology and time. In this case, we <\/span>utilize<\/span> AI instead of being enslaved by technology,” she concluded at the end of the interview session.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
