The event was held at the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) MERR-C Campus UNAIR, from Wednesday, May 1, 2024, to Monday, May 6, 2024.<\/p>\n\n<p>Attending the event were Dr. Mark Lee, Dr. Fahzira Razak, and Dr. Susilawati Toeman supervisors from UTM; Dr. Vera Khoirunisa and Dr. Listra Ginting as ITERA supervising lecturers; and Dr. Lusia Boli, guest lecturer from Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto.<\/p>\n\n<p>This joint student seminar was held by Quantum Engineering Design (RC-QED), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR. Opened by the Dean of FST, Prof. Miratul Khasanah, the event presented a keynote speaker, Prof. Hadi Nur, Head of Integrated Laboratory Unit of Universitas Negeri Malang. There were also four invited speakers: Head of BIOME UNAIR, Dr. Imam Siswanto; doctoral student of Applied Physics Osaka University, Rizka Nur Fadilla; and master students in Chemistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi, Malaysia, Etika Dessi Susanti and Roichatul Madinah.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-76270a6dfe88092ee2406c78290a1797\"><strong>Collaboration<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>The seminar themed \u201cRC-QED Conference 1445 on the Usage of Computational Methods in Integrated Research\u201d was part of the joint class collaboration between the three study programs from three universities. The theme was the use of quantum mechanics-based computational methods in research. The participants learned about basic theory of density functional theory computation. They also learned computational practices remotely to the Riven cluster computer owned by RC-QED.<\/p>\n\n<p>This joint class has been held for the last four semesters, since 2021\/2022 semester 2. UNAIR as the host collaborates with Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) and FST. After preparing the syllabus and implementation, FST UNAIR improved the form of activities this year. From a classroom learning process to a joint seminar. The participants presented their works in front of panelists and other participants.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-aa39fd170b8e841b3c8b3bf048d39a3d\"><strong>Long-term mission<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>The chief organizer and chairman of RC-QED, Febdian Rusydi said this joint class and seminar has a long-term mission. \u201cThe long-term mission of this joint class and joint seminar student is to form a research community in the field of quantum mechanics-based computing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cThen the short-term mission is to accelerate the improvement of students&#8217; final assignments quality collaboratively. We realized that education and research cannot be done in silos, either disciplinary or institutional silos. Our institutions may be different, some are from UNAIR, UTM, and ITERA. However, science and technology problems never depend on higher education institutions. Collaboration and interdisciplinary is a necessity,\u201d continued Dr. Febdian.<\/p>\n\n<p>As an indicator of the short-term mission, the seminar committee has selected four participants&#8217; papers to be developed into publications.
