UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 The Airlangga Public Health Student Association (APHSA) 51动漫\u2019s<\/a> Faculty of Public Health (FKM) successfully conducted a community service initiative called Live In BULIS. This program took place in Kembang Belor Village, located in the Pacet District of Mojokerto Regency, East Java, from Saturday, October 12, to Sunday, October 13, 2024.<\/p>\n\n

As part of this event, APHSA collaborated with 18 students from Brunei Darussalam. The program, themed Health For All \u2013 Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately to Control Hypertension for Live Together and Live Longer, focused on raising public awareness about hypertension through educational workshops and health screenings.<\/p>\n\n

Educational sessions and cooking demonstration<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Event Chair Afiva Tria Sandrina explained that the APHSA team\u2019s main goal was to provide valuable health education to residents of Kembang Belor Village. The team delivered this through a presentation by Laura Navika Yamani, SSi, MSi, PhD, with additional education provided by the Brunei students to the villagers of Dusun Kembang and Dusun Paras.<\/p>\n\n

On the first day, they also distributed food supplies and held a cooking demonstration on making dragon fruit pancakes, which can help manage blood pressure. \u201cThis dish could serve as a dietary suggestion for Kembang Belor residents looking to control hypertension,\u201d Sandrina remarked.<\/p>\n\n

Free health screenings<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

On the second day, APHSA offered free health screenings, including assessments of blood pressure, weight, height, blood sugar, and uric acid levels. Participants could also discuss any health concerns with Dr. Muflikhah Ramadhani. A total of 68 residents took part in the screenings.<\/p>\n\n

The event also featured the distribution of nutritious food, specifically baked Cilembu sweet potatoes, which are rich in fiber, low glycemic, and packed with beneficial minerals and antioxidants to support blood pressure management. \u201cThe goal of these screenings is to promote better health among the community,\u201d said one APHSA student.<\/p>\n\n

The BULIS 2024 program series, which started with the BULIS International Health Media Promotion Competition in July, concluded successfully with the Live In event.<\/p>\n\n

This achievement was made possible by the dedication of committee members, participants, judges, village officials, and other contributors. <\/p>\n\n

The collaboration with Brunei students was especially notable, marking the first international partnership of this kind for BULIS 2024. \u201cWe hope these efforts benefit the community by highlighting the importance of hypertension prevention,\u201d Sandrina concluded.<\/p>\n\n
