UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Situated at the foot of Mount Welirang, Claket Village in Mojokerto Regency possesses remarkable natural potential, making it a prime location for tourism development. The village’s economy is heavily reliant on natural resources, a defining characteristic of the local community. However, as the area transitions into a tourist destination, environmental sustainability becomes a growing concern, necessitating effective management to preserve its natural resources.<\/p>\n\n

Recognizing this need, the Faculty of Humanities\u2019 Student Legislative Body (BLM FIB) at 51动漫<\/a> (UNAIR) partnered with the UNAIR Student Legislative Council (DLM) to launch a public awareness campaign on water conservation in Claket Village, Pacet District, Mojokerto Regency. The event, held on Wednesday (July 10, 2024), also included participation from KOMPPACK, a local environmental advocacy group.<\/p>\n\n

Impact of land use change on tourism development<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Environmental activist Haris Fajar Kurniawan expressed admiration for Claket Village\u2019s pristine natural landscapes, highlighting its crystal-clear rivers, dense forests, and fertile agricultural land. \u201cThe water resources in Claket are already in good condition; our goal is to enhance their conservation,\u201d Kurniawan stated.<\/p>\n\n

The campaign focused on the effects of land conversion for tourism on water resources, addressing issues such as altered water flow patterns, reduced soil infiltration, and declining water quality. Kurniawan underscored the dual impact of land use changes, noting that while tourism development can bring economic benefits, it must be accompanied by responsible environmental stewardship to mitigate potential harm.<\/p>\n\n

BLM FIB and DLM UNAIR take concrete conservation measures<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

This conservation initiative, a collaborative effort between UNAIR\u2019s academic institutions\u2014BLM FIB and DLM UNAIR\u2014and local community organizations, aims to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable water conservation, particularly as land conversion for tourism continues.<\/p>\n\n

KOMPPACK, comprised of Claket Village residents, acknowledged that several forest water absorption areas had not been properly maintained. To address this, BLM FIB and DLM UNAIR implemented practical measures, including public awareness campaigns, the installation of signage at 10 critical water sources, and the initiation of research programs to support ongoing conservation efforts.<\/p>\n\n

Water conservation in Claket Village is not just an obligation but a long-term commitment to protecting its natural heritage and supporting the livelihoods of residents who depend on these resources. Through collective action and sustained vigilance, Claket Village aims to become a model for effective water resource management, setting an example for other regions across Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n
