UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 51动漫<\/a> (UNAIR) continues to achieve significant milestones. The FLO-RETECH team, consisting of three students from Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK)\u2014Putri Salma Nabila, Siti Nur Aini, and Candra Puspitasari\u2014along with two students from the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM)\u2014Aufar Mahran Alleani and Rizki Ramanda Putra\u2014has successfully secured funding from the Pertamina Foundation and received an award for the best infographic presentation.<\/p>\n\n

The FLO-RETECH team has developed an Internet of Things (IoT)-based technology aimed at improving productivity and sustainability in the aquaculture industry. Their project focuses on addressing key challenges in implementing biofloc technology in fish farming. This initiative received funding in November 2024 and will continue through February 2025.<\/p>\n\n

Real-time water quality monitoring system<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Team leader Putri Salma Nabila explained that FLO-RETECH is an advanced monitoring system designed to measure the C\/N ratio, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), and temperature in real-time using renewable energy. The system is built as an eco-friendly application equipped with a microcontroller and powered by sustainable energy sources.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWith its efficient and automated monitoring capabilities, this system helps fish farmers maintain optimal water conditions, ensuring healthy fish growth and improved water quality. It also minimizes the risk of aquaculture failure caused by fluctuations in the C\/N ratio. Additionally, this technology helps reduce operational costs, enhancing productivity and efficiency in fish farming,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n\n

Advancing SDGs<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Nabila emphasized that the FLO-RETECH project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 14 (Life Below Water \u2013 Sustainable Use of Marine Resources).<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis technology enables fish farmers to enhance their productivity, create more stable and sustainable job opportunities, and support economic growth. Furthermore, it contributes to the development of sustainable infrastructure and innovation, aligning with global objectives to build an inclusive and forward-thinking industrial sector,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n

Strategic and sustainable solution<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

According to Nabila, this approach not only significantly improves fish growth but also enhances environmental resilience by mitigating water pollution. Furthermore, integrating the FLO-RETECH system into aquaculture operations helps fish farmers reduce production costs.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cOur goal is to deliver a solution that not only provides economic benefits for fish farmers but also prioritizes ecological sustainability. Additionally, we aim to promote widespread adoption of this technology in aquaculture practices,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n\n
