UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 A student from 51动漫<\/a> (UNAIR) has earned second place and the Best Individual award at the Astra Credit Companies (ACC) Business Case Competition, held Wednesday (April 30, 2025), at Berijalan Office in Yogyakarta. The honors went to Ivan Wijaya Kusumo, a Management student at UNAIR\u2019s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).<\/p>\n\n

Kusumo explained that he initially registered for the competition as an individual. However, upon being selected as a finalist, he was placed in a team with two students from other universities. \u201cI ended up working with two teammates from different universities. Despite coming together only during the final round, we successfully identified the core issue and delivered a compelling presentation,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n

Shifting preferences in car financing<\/h5>\n\n

For the competition, Kusumo\u2019s team addressed the evolving preferences of Generation Z regarding car financing. \u201cWe were challenged to analyze a real-world problem\u2014in this case, Gen Z\u2019s changing attitudes toward car financing. Our aim was to explore what Gen Z expects from companies like Astra, particularly within Indonesia,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n

Through their research, they found that Gen Z tends to favor flexibility and avoids long-term commitments. \u201cA traditional five-year car loan feels restrictive to many in Gen Z. They generally prefer options that allow them more mobility and freedom,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

To address this issue, the team proposed a concept called Flexible Car Financing, which offers various payment plans and timeframes tailored to individual financial capacities. \u201cThis model allows Gen Z to purchase cars with the option to trade or delay payments based on their needs,\u201d explained Kusumo, who also serves as a teaching assistant.<\/p>\n\n

Best Individual achievement<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Alongside the team award, Kusumo received the Best Individual accolade among all competition finalists. He shared that the selection was based on several factors, including participation, presentation ability, analytical skills, and teamwork.<\/p>\n\n

He emphasized that having a strong understanding of the automotive financing industry was critical to his performance. \u201cCar financing is still relatively unfamiliar to many in Gen Z, which made it all the more important to study the industry in depth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

In addition to industry knowledge, Kusumo stressed the importance of key competencies such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, and critical thinking. \u201cThese three skills are essential in nearly every business case competition. They\u2019re central to how judges assess participants,\u201d added the UNAIR DWDG Vice President.<\/p>\n\n
