UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Often described as a microcosm of Banyuwangi due to its diverse strengths in agriculture, fisheries, and conservation, Pesanggaran Sub-district has been selected as one of the locations for 51动漫 (UNAIR<\/a>) students participating in the Community Service Program – Learning with Community(KKN-BBK). The students were formally welcomed on Tuesday, Jan 6, 2026 in Pesanggaran, Banyuwangi.<\/p>\n\n

Students as university representatives<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Field Academic Supervisor (DPL) Dr. Moses Glorino Rumambo Pandin, S.S., S.Psi., M.Si., M.Phil., M.Psi., Psychologist, underscored the role of students as representatives of the university within the community. He reminded them to maintain professionalism, uphold ethical standards, and communicate effectively with local village and sub-district authorities.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI want to stress that you are here as representatives of UNAIR. We carry the university\u2019s name, so it is important to seek permission and coordinate with village and sub-district officials to ensure our presence is well understood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

Dr. Pandin also encouraged students to appreciate the community service process, despite the relatively short duration of the program. He expressed hope that their involvement would leave a meaningful and lasting impact on the people of Pesanggaran.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThree weeks will go by very quickly. I entrust these students to all of you, and I hope their stay and return proceed smoothly, and that they are able to contribute in ways that are both impactful and sustainable,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n

Exceptional natural resource potential<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Pesanggaran Sub-district Head Andik Basuki, S.A.P., M.Si., also welcomed the UNAIR KKN students and described Pesanggaran as a miniature version of Banyuwangi Regency, rich in natural resources and economic opportunities.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cPesanggaran has remarkable potential, ranging from agriculture and fisheries to the only gold mining site in Banyuwangi. At the same time, the area also faces a full range of challenges and disaster risks, as it lies within an estuary region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

Basuki explained that Pesanggaran is known for producing dragon fruit, oranges, and guava, and has strong sectors in food crop farming, capture fisheries, and trade. Several villages also stand out for their unique strengths, including turtle conservation centers, cattle fattening programs managed by Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and high-value fisheries products such as lobster.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI hope you truly engage with the community, learn directly from everyday realities, economic growth, and local potential. There are four main KKN focus areas, and all of them can be developed from Pesanggaran\u2019s abundant resources,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

Andik Basuki further urged students to protect the reputation of their alma mater, uphold courtesy and ethical conduct, and actively participate in community activities throughout the KKN program.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cPlease interact and integrate with the community while maintaining proper conduct. I am confident that future UNAIR graduates will play important roles in Indonesia\u2019s government. Welcome, and best wishes for a successful KKN experience in Pesanggaran,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n

The KKN-BBK program is part of UNAIR\u2019s broader commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through direct and sustained community engagement.<\/p>\n\n
