UNAIR NEWS \u2013 <\/b>A humanities education background is often viewed as having limited career paths. However, this assumption was disproved by Jazi Jannati, an alumna of the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities (FIB), 51动漫<\/a> (UNAIR). Equipped with knowledge of language, culture, and soft skills gained during her studies, Jannati now works in the international education industry as Regional Marketing Manager UK & Europe Specialist (Indonesia and the Philippines) at YES Education Group.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jannati\u2019s career journey did not begin with a grand plan to work in the global sphere. She admitted that she chose Indonesian Literature purely because of her interest in literature and culture since high school.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI clearly remember when I was in high school, I came to an exhibition because I already had an interest in literature,\u201d Jannati said. She made the decision without thinking too much about her future career path.<\/p>\n\n

From Indonesian Literature to international education industry<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

During her studies at FIB UNAIR, Jannati learned extensively about cultural studies and local insights, which later became her strength in the professional world. According to her, cultural approaches were very important in developing strategies, especially in Indonesia, which has high diversity.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI always say that Indonesia is so wide,\u201d Jannati said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In addition to academic learning, courses on local and international languages also helped her adapt to multicultural environments. This experience became an important foundation when she entered the international education industry and handled various study destinations such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and Canada.<\/p>\n\n

Her interest in global education initially stemmed from a personal goal to pursue further studies in the United Kingdom. She then gradually improved her English skills and eventually prepared for the IELTS test. From there, her path in the education industry began to open, until she was eventually trusted to become a UK and Europe market specialist.<\/p>\n\n

Challenges, soft skills, and message for UNAIR students<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Entering the international industry was not without challenges. Jannati admitted that she initially felt less confident because she had to compete with colleagues who graduated from overseas universities. \u201cThe challenge was building people\u2019s trust at the beginning. The brand of our home university definitely had an influence,\u201d Jannati said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

However, her organizational experience during college became a distinguishing factor. She believed that soft skills such as discipline, coordination, and structured thinking were skills she gained from student activities. \u201cNow that I am at a mid-level managerial position, I realize that those experiences are actually very useful,\u201d Jannati said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Currently, Jannati not only assists students who wish to pursue their studies abroad but is also involved in strategic collaborations with universities in the United Kingdom and Indonesia, ranging from short courses and lecturer research to scholarship programs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

She also encouraged UNAIR students not to hesitate to follow their passions. \u201cWhatever major we choose, as long as we pursue it seriously, we will become experts anyway,\u201d Jannati said. She emphasized that humanities has a broad scope and remains relevant across various sectors, including at the global level.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
