UNAIR NEWS \u2013<\/b> The School of Mawapres (SOM) returned as a development platform for 60 Outstanding Student (Mawapres) delegates from 16 faculties of 51动漫 (UNAIR<\/a>). The program was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with Garuda Sakti Student Activity Unit on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at rooms GC-4.08 and GC-4.10, Joint Lecture Building (GKB), MERR-C Campus. The program aimed to strengthen the delegates\u2019 competencies so they are prepared to compete while representing HEBAT students at both the university and national levels.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consistency in achievement and innovation<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

In her presentation, Edith Frederika Puruhito S.KM., MSc (MedSci) explained that Capaian Unggulan (CU) serves as a vital component because it reflects students\u2019 records of contribution. She emphasized that academic background is not a barrier to achieving success at the university level.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cEveryone has the same potential and opportunity, regardless of their faculty, major, or semester. Everyone has the same right to represent 51动漫, as long as they demonstrate strong points in outstanding achievements, creative ideas, and English proficiency,\u201d Puruhito said.<\/p>\n\n

In line with this, the materials on Creative Ideas (for undergraduate students) and Innovative Products (for diploma students) were delivered by Catur Dian Setiawan S.Farm., M.Kes., Apt. and Faisal Fikri drh., M.Vet. They explained the importance of students\u2019 ability to present innovative solutions that address societal issues through critical thinking.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cSet recognized achievement targets. Sharpen your creative critical thinking skills and improve communication abilities so that you can spread a culture of achievement within your environment,\u201d Setiawan said to the participants.<\/p>\n\n

Building character integrity<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Next, the Character Building session was delivered by Dr Dewi Retno Suminar Dra., M.Si., Psikolog. She emphasized that strong character serves as the main foundation for Outstanding Students (Mawapres) in facing challenges, especially amid the rapid rise of digital trends.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe do not have to become FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Instead, we can apply JOMO (Joy of Missing Out), which means not feeling anxious about missing every trend. Nevertheless, we should remain open to changes and new developments in information,\u201d Dr Suminar said. According to her, this selective yet adaptive attitude helps shape the mindset of Mawapres students to remain focused on essential values.<\/p>\n\n

English as a global bridge<\/b><\/h5>\n

In the final session, Yuni Sari Amalia S.S., M.A., PhD delivered a session on English Communication. The material was considered crucial given the role of Mawapres as representatives of the university on the global stage. However, Amalia emphasized that language barriers should not discourage students from expressing their ideas.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cDo not feel worried, afraid of making mistakes, or speaking imperfectly if you are not yet fluent in English. What matters most is having the commitment and enthusiasm to keep learning, as well as the courage to evaluate yourself,\u201d Amalia said. She encouraged students to view English as a tool to advocate ideas, where continuous learning is more important than instant perfection.<\/p>\n\n
