UNAIR NEWS \u2013<\/b> Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) is a global university ranking widely trusted by students, academics, governments, and industry experts as a reference in assessing the quality of higher education worldwide. In the 2026 edition, the ranking covered 2,191 institutions from 115 countries and territories, making THE WUR one of the most comprehensive university rankings in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In this context, 51动漫 (UNAIR) once again reaffirmed its position as a globally competitive university through its active participation and consistent achievements in the THE WUR by Subject 2026. This subject-based ranking has become one of the most credible international references for measuring university performance based on specific academic disciplines. It provides a deeper and more comprehensive overview of an institution\u2019s academic strengths and excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Performance indicators<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

THE WUR by Subject evaluates universities across 11 major academic disciplines using a rigorous methodology, consistent with other Times Higher Education (THE) ranking standards. The assessment is conducted through 18 performance indicators, which are grouped into five main pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

This subject-based approach enables a more in-depth mapping of UNAIR\u2019s strengths and competitiveness in specific academic fields, rather than assessing performance solely at the institutional level. In the latest release of THE WUR by Subject 2026, UNAIR successfully maintained its position among the world\u2019s leading universities, while strengthening its reputation as a higher education institution that excels in teaching, research, and global collaboration.<\/p>\n\n

Out of the 11 disciplines, UNAIR maintained its world ranking in eight subject areas: Business and Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Medical and Health, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

To be included in THE WUR by Subject, universities must meet two main requirements. First, the university must be listed in the overall THE WUR ranking. Second, the institution must reach the minimum threshold for research publications and the number of relevant academic staff in each evaluated discipline.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Strict publication requirements<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Times Higher Education (THE) requires that no university can be included in the overall World University Rankings without meeting strict publication criteria. Institutions must produce at least 1,000 relevant publications within the five-year evaluation period, 2020\u20132024 for the 2026 ranking, with a minimum requirement of 100 publications per year during that period.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the national context, UNAIR demonstrated competitive and consistent performance across various academic disciplines, as reflected in the THE WUR by Subject results. UNAIR\u2019s strengths were particularly evident in Medical and Health as well as Business and Economics, two strategic fields that showed sustained performance. <\/span>These achievements reflect UNAIR\u2019s strong capacity in research-based education and research development, including the downstreaming of research outputs and tangible contributions to addressing health, economic, and social challenges, both at the national and global levels.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Improvement in domestic ranking<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Although UNAIR\u2019s global by-subject rankings remained relatively stable, the university recorded improvements at the domestic level in six academic disciplines. These include Business and Economics, which rose to #2= in Indonesia, Computer Science from #7 to #2=, Engineering from #5 to #2=, Law from #4 to #2=, Physical Sciences from #4 to #2=, and Social Sciences from #4 to #2= in Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Overall, the THE WUR by Subject results reflect UNAIR\u2019s position as a leading university with strong multidisciplinary capabilities, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on tangible contributions to national development and solutions to global challenges.<\/p>\n\n

Head of the Planning and Development Board (BPP) of UNAIR, Prof Dr Dian Ekowati SE MSi MAppCom(OrgChg) PhD, emphasized that achievements in THE WUR by Subject are not viewed merely as final outcomes, but rather as strategic evaluation instruments for continuous improvement.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cInternational rankings, including the THE World University Rankings by Subject, serve as tools for reflection and mapping UNAIR\u2019s academic strengths. Moving forward, the university will continue to strengthen research quality, increase internationally reputable publications, expand global collaboration, and enhance the relevance of education to societal and industry needs,\u201d Prof Ekowati said.<\/p>\n\n

As part of these improvement efforts, UNAIR continues to strengthen its research excellence ecosystem, increase support for lecturers and researchers, optimize international collaboration, and utilize the UNAIR Satu Data system as a foundation for data-driven decision-making. In addition, improving learning quality, advancing curriculum internationalization, and strengthening industry networks remain key priorities to enhance performance across THE ranking indicators.<\/p>\n\n
