UNAIR NEWS <\/b>\u2013 An Electrical Engineering student from the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidisciplinary (FTMM), 51动漫 (UNAIR<\/a>), Adista Wahyu Kristian, was selected to participate in the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) at National Taiwan University (NTU) from March to June 2026. TEEP is a research internship program for international students, offering opportunities to conduct research at leading universities and companies across Taiwan, including NTU.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Kristian explained that he first learned about the opportunity through his study program coordinator, who encouraged him to apply. He then promptly prepared all required documents and got ready for the selection process.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI was encouraged by my program coordinator to apply for this program. There were two stages of selection: document screening and an interview. I only had one month to prepare everything. I found the interview quite challenging, but thanks to thorough preparation, I was able to get through it,\u201d Kristian said.<\/p>\n\n

Reasons for choosing National Taiwan University<\/b><\/p>\n\n

The TEEP program, initiated by Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of Education, offers various benefits, including a living allowance. It also covers a wide range of disciplines, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).<\/p>\n\n

Kristian selected NTU as his destination for several key reasons, especially to deepen his knowledge and strengthen his skills in electrical engineering.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI chose NTU because I wanted to further explore my field of study. It also has comprehensive facilities, a strategic location with easy access to public transportation, and a strong academic reputation,\u201d Kristian explained.<\/p>\n\n

Challenges of adapting to Taiwan<\/b><\/p>\n\n

Adjusting to life in a new country presented several challenges for Kristian. He admitted experiencing difficulties adapting to differences in environment and language.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe main challenges I faced when I first arrived in Taiwan were adapting to the food and public transportation system. The food tends to be milder compared to what I am used to, while the transportation system is highly advanced. I also struggled with the language, as most people speak Mandarin with different accents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n

Learning 6G antenna research<\/b><\/p>\n\n

During the TEEP program, Kristian followed a hands-on learning approach focused on laboratory work. This method allowed him to gain new insights from both the course materials and feedback provided by his supervisors.<\/p>\n\n

His current research at NTU focuses on Terahertz Antenna Design for 6G Communication. \u201cIn this program, I am learning to develop antenna technology that operates at higher frequency ranges to achieve ultra-high data speeds, reaching terabits per second (Tbps). These antennas are designed to be compact, efficient, and capable of addressing signal challenges in future 6G communication systems,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n

Kristian also shared advice for students interested in joining exchange or similar programs. He encouraged them to learn the language and culture of the destination country, actively seek information about opportunities through social media, and prepare a strong CV or portfolio to showcase their abilities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
