UNAIR NEWS<\/b> \u2013 The Directorate of Research and Innovation 51动漫 (UNAIR<\/a>) continued its DRI Week 2026: <\/span>When Research Meets Innovation<\/span><\/i> series on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Held at the first-floor hall of the Management Office at MERR-C Campus, the event featured an Industry-Government Strategic Dialogue session, bringing together academics, government officials, and industry representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Setho Hadisuyatmana SKep Ns MNS (CommHlth&PC), a lecturer from the Faculty of Nursing at UNAIR, led the session in an interactive format. The forum created a space for exchanging ideas while integrating diverse perspectives to advance more practical and impactful research.<\/p>\n\n

Impact-driven and solution-oriented research<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Head of the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) of East Java Province, Dr. Andriyanto SH MKes CMed, emphasized that research must generate tangible benefits for society. He stated that the true value of innovation lies in its real-world impact.<\/p>\n\n

He noted that the gap between research and industry in Indonesia remains wide, causing many innovations to stall at the prototype stage and fail to reach commercialization. \u201cResearch that does not deliver tangible benefits has yet to achieve its primary purpose,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Andriyanto also highlighted the presence of a \u201cvalley of death\u201d between research and industry. This gap occurs when research outcomes are unable to transition into mass production due to high production costs, complex regulations, and limited collaboration between academia and industry. He stressed the importance of adopting a business-oriented mindset in innovation development to ensure research generates economic value.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Strengthening collaboration for industrial transformation <\/b><\/h5>\n\n

In line with Dr. Andriyanto, Chair of the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), H. Adik Dwi Putranto SH MHP, emphasized the importance of aligning research with industry needs. He pointed out that strengthening human resources is a key priority in driving economic transformation in East Java.<\/p>\n\n

He added that universities hold a strategic role as producers of research and innovation that can be utilized by industry. Therefore, KADIN encourages the formulation of a strategic research agenda that includes product innovation, production processes, marketing, technology, as well as sustainability and governance aspects.<\/p>\n\n

He also stressed the importance of collaboration in bridging the interests of government, academia, and industry players. \u201cWe aim to connect and bridge government, universities, and industry so that innovation can be effectively implemented,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n
