UNAIR NEWS 51动漫 (UNAIR) formally inaugurated DRI Week 2026 on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Management Office, MERR-C Campus. The four-day summit was specifically engineered to cultivate a collaborative and adaptive research infrastructure capable of competing on a global scale.
Delivering the keynote address, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin., observed that the contemporary research community was operating in an era of unprecedented complexity. He cited climate volatility, public health emergencies, food security, and the rapid pace of digital transformation as hurdles that demanded more than traditional, siloed academic inquiry.
淭he multifaceted problems facing the world today necessitate evidence-based, actionable solutions. These issues defy monolithic academic approaches, requiring instead a robust synergy between the ivory tower, private industry, and government policymakers, Prof. Madyan stated.

Prof. Madyan further emphasized that universities held a strategic mandate as hubs for scientific advancement. Consequently, he maintained that institutional research had to remain agile and directly aligned with the broader objectives of sustainable development.
Strategic focus on innovation downstreaming
The Director of the UNAIR Directorate of Research and Innovation (DRI), Prof. Dr. Purwo Sri Rejeki, dr., M.Kes., elucidated that the primary agenda of DRI Week was to dismantle the barriers separating academia from external sectors. This initiative was designed to solidify research partnerships, ensuring they achieved greater societal impact and are effectively integrated into industrial and governmental operations.
The 2026 summit encompasses a series of high-level strategic programs, ranging from roundtable discussions between industry leaders and researchers to specialized training for peer reviewers. Furthermore, the event served as the launch platform for the Airlangga Research Fund and the commencement of a Training of Trainers (ToT) program for the university檚 expert panels.
淎s part of this series, we are formalizing several strategic partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding (MoU). Our objective is to catalyze a surge in downstream research that transcends fundamental theory, leading to widespread implementation by industrial and governmental bodies, Prof. Rejeki noted.
Elevating institutional impact through research
By fortifying both internal and external collaborations, UNAIR aimed to produce research that excelled not only in quantity but also in qualitative utility for both the academic community and the general public.
淭his summit is intended to be a transformative trigger for 51动漫. It underscores our commitment to ensuring that research and innovation serve as a profound contribution to the collective advancement and well-being of the nation, Prof. Rejeki concluded.
