Academicians Expected to Obey the Signs in Campus

UNAIR NEWS To support the productivity and occupational safety, Occupational Health and Safety Unit (K-3) has held Occupational Health and Safety and Management System Training. There were 83 participants from all units in the university, institutes, faculties in Malang on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13.

The Director of Facilities and Environment, Karnaji, M.Sos., said that K-e sector is one of the units assessed by quality assurance board. Therefore, the participants were expected to create healthy environment which support the achievement towards world class university.

淏ased on Rector檚 Decree, the participants chosen will be agents from each unit, institute and faculty to maintain occupational health and safety, said Karnaji.

Karnaji said that agents in each unit must be able to identify K-3 problems. Therefore, the training was expected to give practical knowledge which can be used at work based on the tasks, functions of occupational safety in low risk areas.

Head of Sub-directorate of K-3, Mulyono, M.Kes, said that the training was connected closely to work productivity improvement. 淢anaging an environment and identify the source of dangers is important, so it won檛 endanger the workers. The point is to make them safe and comfortable with the learning process or research, said Mulyono.

淏efore there is K-3 in UNAIR, facilities for people with disability were not available. It is now available, said K-3 lecturer in Faculty of Public Health.

Mulyono said that the participants are expected to be responsive to problems of occupational health and safety in each unit.

On the other hand, FKM UNAIR also said that K-3 implementation also involves academicians such as lecturers, students and educational staff. Mulyono hoped that academicians obey the regulations in campus.

淚n Campus there are signs which allow the vehicles to run at 10 km an hour. Rules like should be obeyed by the academicians, said Mulyono.
