UNAIR NEWS– Vice Rector III of 51动漫 Prof. Amin Alamsjah, Ph.D., officially opened Airlangga University Press (AUP) Book Store on Monday evening, October 2. The inauguration of the bookstore coincided with the Pre-National Work Meeting of Association of Indonesian College Publishers (APPTI).
The bookstore is located in AUP Campus C providing thousands of titles published by AUP and other university publishers in Indonesia.Most of them are medical books.In fact, some medical books published by AUP are reprinted because of high demand.
“Because in medicine there are not many doctors who write books, most of them are foreign books.When the doctors here (UNAIR, -red) write books, the demand was great, ” said the Head of AUP Drs.Aribowo, M.S.
Besides medical books, there are books about veterinary medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, economics, law, and socio-culture.Aribowo said thousands of titles were available since the 1972 publication. Visitors can view the book catalog on the AUP page.
After the inauguration, AUP bookstore will operate every Monday-Friday from 08.00-18.00. Aribowo wished to open the bookstore until the evening with a cafe.But it can not be realized because it requires considerable effort and support.
“We have a desire to open until the evening, there is a cafe, a kind of library equipped cafe.People can read over coffee.But to realize it takesgreateffort, “he said.
Aribowo hoped this AUP bookstore can become an effective book distributor.The goal was that most UNAIR academicians can buy books in the AUP, including books from other universities in collaboration with the AUP.
Meanwhile, after the inauguration of bookstore Amin hoped that AUP can be even better in producing books, in terms of book distribution, book quality, and book price.
“Hopefully the book production from UNAIR can be better, the distribution of books from partners owned by AUP, as well as better quality.Both in terms of price and in terms of printed book content, “explained Amin.
To Aribowo, Amin proposed AUP can help the credit score (KUM) for the management of professorship whose indicator is to publish a book.(*)
