UNAIR NEWS “An anthropologist from University of Western Australia Prof.Lyn Parker gave a lecture entitled “Creating Responsible Environmental Citizens through Education in Indonesia” on Monday, July 10.The lecture was delivered in presence of students and lecturers of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences 51¶¯Âþ.
Accompanied by Vice Dean III FISIP Prof.Myrtati Dyah Artaria as moderator, Prof.Lyn described about the educational and environmental aspects of anthropology.“Professor Lyn Parker will talk about education from anthropological point of view.How important it is to preserve the environment so people can live comfortably in the area, ” said Prof. Myrtati.
In the guest lecture which was lasted more than one hour, Prof.Parker presented the result of her research in Indonesia.His research on the behavior of Indonesian society and the environment is still conducted until today.
Based on the observations conducted by the University of Western Australia™s professor, Indonesia has already had many programs supporting the creation of a clean environment.At school level, for example, it has been applied to extracurricular activities in the environmental field.
“For example, environmental hygiene or yell competitions and also many extracurriculars in school.However, it has not been able to touch the inside of human self because their they still have destructive behavior towards nature. In addition, there are also people who still waste the use of energy, “added the anthropologist.
In addition to giving a guest lecture, Prof.Parker also collaborates with FISIP.The University of Western Australia researcher will provide training on journal writing to faculty and students of FISIP.
“In the future, we will collaborate in a long time.Next year, we will do research with Prof.Lyn Parker, ” said Prof. Myrtati.
