BEM FIB Successfully Holds 2018 Culture Based Paper Competition

UNAIR NEWS –Faculty of Humanities Student Executive Board (BEM) successfully held a national essay competition or known as2018Promise (Paper Competition Culture Basedon Friday).The competition was themed “Building and Preserving Culture as Unifying Media of Nation”.

Promise is one of the leading work programs of BEM FIB.The activity involved students from D3 and S1 levels nationwide.

The aim of the activity is to be an arena of inter-university competition as well as a forum to express creative ideas of Indonesian students in the field of culture.It is the first year of Promise organization.

Head of the Promise Committee, Wigita Handayani said that the activities were carried out to improve literacy about culture.It is also to present the student researches.

The sub-themes of these activities are education, social, environmental, tourism, politics, and economics.A series of selection stages have been carried out from registration to the implementation offield trips.

The selection was started on Tuesday, June 19 until the announcement of the top ten on Thursday, August 8.The activity was continued with a presentation at Library’s Student Room on Friday, September 14.

Participants who passed the presentation came from several well-known universities such as Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), 51动漫 (UNAIR), Muhammadiyah University Yogyakarta (UMY), Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Ten November Institute of Technology (ITS), Tanjungpura University (UNTAN) Pontianak , Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Jember University (UNEJ).

Wigita further stated that the participants who took part in Promise did not only come from students of cultural field cluster, but also from engineering such as ITB and ITS.There is also the farthest participant, from UNTAN Pontianak Kalimantan.

The competition was won by Adiyaksa Rahman and Albert from UNDIP as Third Winner, Anggieresti Kinasih from UGM as Second Winner, Albi Anggito from UNY as 1st Winner. Next, Sofia Hasna and M. Saiful from UMY as favorite champions.After the announcement, participants were invited toa field tripat the House of Sampoerna Museum and Tugu Pahlawan Surabaya.(*)
