UNAIRÌýNEWSÌý“ÌýThe Head of Student Executive Board (BEM) of Faculty of Humanities (FIB), , is next for the special coverage of “Head of Our BEM”. It is Yunaz Karaman. A few days ago, the Head of BEM who is familiarly called Yunaz told about various things on his vision to become HEad of BEM FIB UNAIR in 2018.
“Initially, it was not my wish, but because of the encouragement and trust of my friends. From there, I tried to think again and finally decided to run for it. At FIB yesterday, I became a single candidate. Why it happened, I also do not really know if all support me or there was indeed no opponent, “said Yunaz.
In addition, Yunaz acknowledged that his decision to become Head of BEM FIB also arise from the problems that exist in FIB. The problem, he argued, is the lack of student organizational trust outside BEM that continues to happen from year to year.
“Therefore, I want to bridge between BEM, student organizations (ormawa), and other students to collaborate with each other and can keep a good organizational climate back,” he said.
Therefore, he continued, Guyup Rukun Cabinet was formed. Yunaz wanted to achieve the vision-missions, which is to restore the trust of other student organizations and students to BEM.
“There are some programs, such as hiring ormawa, listening to their complaints or suggestions which we bring to the dean and sub-heads of faculty so the problems can be solved,” he said.
All this time, BEM FIB also try to attend every ormawa or BSO activity in FIB. For Yunaz, it becomes an opportunity to improve FIB unity so they can be solid again.
“The challenge sometimes comes from the faculty policy that does not invite us, so the policy is unknown. From there, the students sometimes hurt. The solution, I immediately went to the faculty management and talk in person so the problem can be solved, “he said.
In addition to solving these problems, Yunaz also wants BEM FIB to be financially independent through the Ministry of Cultural Depot (Entrepreneurship, ed). BEM will create a design contest for FIB merchandise. Merchandises such as notebooks, jackets, and the like will be produced.
“In the Ministry of Strategic Studies and Action (Kastrat, ed) there is also a thematic discussion. For example, cultural issues, national, and the like. The output will form as a book, a collection of opinions, poems, short stories, and the like, “added Yunaz.
At the end, as the Head of BEM FIB, Yunaz advised that the most important is the harmonious life among students and the presence of BEM for students. The reason, for Yunaz, BEM is not a group of people who are busy formulating events with very fantastic funds, confused to find guest star, or branding BEM only.
BEM, Yunaz continued, is a hand that always moves, eyes that always see, ears that always hear the complaints, sighs, and aspirations of all the students. Thus, he added, BEM should be an organic bridge that can connect students with faculty and university management and the real world.
“So that the existence of this BEM can be stated, felt, and seen its usefulness. We must expose the egoism of every organization, to collaborate and work together, ” Yunaz concluded. (*)
