UNAIR NEWS Orphans Lover Community (KPAY) together with Student Executive Board (BEM) 51动漫 (UNAIR) held an iftar gathering with 2,080 orphans of Surabaya. The event was held in Ulul Azmi Mosque, Campus C UNAIR on Sunday June 26.
Beside having iftar together, there was also a charity event, where orphans received aid and clothes. The aid was given directly by Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin., as Vice Rector II of UNAIR.
The orphans attended were not only from orphanages in Surabaya. PAY community also invited orphans who live in small houses around Surabaya.
In his address, Madyan said that giving charity did not have to be by giving money but it could be done through giving knowledge.
淭o have more meaningful Ramadan, we have to use our knowledge in a charitable way. Doing a charity does not have to be by giving money, but we can also use our knowledge to be a useful person, Madyan said.
In his opinion, pursuant to what the religion taught him, the best people are people who can be useful for others. 淲e must be able to use what we get in campus. As educated people, we must be able to be useful individuals for our environment and the public in general, he said.
Madyan added that especially in this Ramadan, it is a moslem檚 job to fill the day with good deeds. 淪o fasting is not a reason not to do anything, he said in front of the attendees.
淚ftar gathering and charity held in Campus C UNAIR Mosque is a closing of events previously held by PAY community said Wahyu Aditama as the event coordinator PAY.
Masyfuk Rizaludin as the coordinator of the event hoped that students can show their spirit of UNAIR, Excellent with Morality.
“Campus as the place of education and training for students should be able to teach the importance of morality. We have to understand that learning is not only for our own sake but also for the general public, added student who is also Minister of Scientific Coordinator BEM UNAIR. (*)
