BEM UNAIR Opens Donations for Airlangga Cheap Market

UNAIR NEWS –Airlangga Cheap Market is one of the charity programs carried out by Ministry of Community Service, Student Executive Board (BEM) .It is a program designed to address the problem of food shortages in communities with low economical ability.

Imaduddin Sajid Mubarok, Head Executive of Airlangga Cheap Market explained that it is an activity to sell cheap basic food package until a third from its normal price.The capital to organize the cheap market is by raising funds from the UNAIR academic community.

“The money from the donation will then be used as capital to run the Airlangga Cheap Market.The money collected after the sale will be used again to carry out the cheap market, until the money runs out, “explained the student of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

During the freshmen orientation program, BEM UNAIR Community Service will continue to open cheap market donation booth on three UNAIR campuses.That is campus A (FK and FKG), campus B (Language Center), and Campus C (Ulul Azmi Mosque, BEM UNAIR Secretariat, and ACC).On August 6 and 7, the Airlangga cheap market will open a stand at the Student Center during UKM showcases.

“This is done to facilitate students, especially new students, to make direct donations.The fundraising will be closed on August 19, 2018, either for direct payment or by making a transfer, ” he explained.

“That way, in addition to getting a reward for donating, the freshmen also have the opportunity to gain experience to community activities, which then also get a certificate as an Airlangga Cheap Market participant,” he explained.

Airlangga Cheap Market itself had already been held in Blitar yesterday, then, it was planned be held in Sidotopo and Sukolilo.Sajid hoped that the existence of the low-cost market can alleviate the problems related to the price of basic foods that continue to rise, so it can improve the level of health and nutrition of the community.
