Collaboration of FKG, RSGM, and Surabaya City Government to Handle Health Problems

UNAIR NEWS – Health prevention and issues resolution still require cross-sector synergies.In fact, health problems have been targeted in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) since 2000 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2015.

Those are the world policy products published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).The addressed targets include Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), HIV-AIDS transmission, tuberculosis, malaria, tropical diseases, hepatitis, infectious diseases resulting from poor sanitation, and other health problems.

As an effort to support the achievement of MDGs and SDGs targets, Faculty of Dental Medicine along with the Directors of Dental & Oral Hospital (RSGM) FKG UNAIR take the initiative to cooperate with Surabaya City Government.

Surabaya City Government also has a similar vision in eradicating health problems in the community.Through the meeting held at Surabaya City Hall, Dr. (HC) Ir.Tri Rismaharini, MT was very welcome with the intention of FKG UNAIR Team visit led by the Dean, Dr.R. Darmawan Setijanto., Drg., M.Kes, RSGM Board of Directors.

Prof.Drg.Coen Pramono D. SU., Sp.BM (K) as the President Director and the ranks of the development team of Faculty and Staff of Board of Directors RSGM UNAIR also attended this event.

“I support the initiative of Surabaya World Tropical Health Center (SWTHC).I leave it to FKG and RSGM UNAIR so the dental health services in Surabaya can be packaged as Health Tourism in Surabaya, “said Risma.

As a real step, Surabaya City Government has conducted several actions of Healthy Community Movement (GERMAS).The concept of Health Tourism as a theme this time is in accordance with the strengths of Surabaya.

To UNAIR News Darmawan expressed his joy over the support of Mayor of Surabaya against this progressive step.

“Public health service activities require complex synergy and mutual support.We feel grateful and happy with the support from Mrs. Risma as Mayor of Surabaya and all parties, “said Darmawan.

In the development of this concept, communication has been established from the continuous flow of synergies between FKG with RSGM, FKG Research Center, and Institute of Tropical Disease UNAIR assupporting systemby Darmawan.

“In the future, we hope the research-based educational culture that becomes the core of dental medicine education in FKG can become one of the contributions of Surabaya City community through SWTHC establishment,” Darmawan added.(*)
