UNAIR NEWS Regional elections still presents many problems for its implementation, from single candidacy to the requirements set which were considered too complicated. To discuss the amendment of the law Number 8 of 2015 on the alteration of Law Number 1 of 2015 on Pilkada regulations, the members of commission II House of Representatives (DPR) visited 51动漫 to seek counsels from the experts.
The event was held in Adi Sukadana Hall, Faculty of Social and Poitical Sciences (FISIP) UNAIR on Monday, April 18. It was attended by Vice Rector II UNAIR Dr. M. Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin, academicians of FISIP UNAIR and Faculty of Law UNAIR.
The Chairman of Commission II DPR RI Rambe Kamarulzaman stated that their visit was to seek inputs on the amendment of Law Number 8 of 2015 on Pilkada.
淭he Law on Pilkada which will be amended was of the government suggestion. Some points will be revised such as the issue of single candidacy and requirements for candidacy, some required them to stop practicing their professions for candidacy and some don檛 require that, said Rambe.
One of the academicians of FH UNAIR, M. Syaiful Aris was present to comment on the revision of Pilkada Law. The head of Constitution and Governance Study Center said that to avoid single candidacy, there are two things to do, give authority to General Elections Commission (KPU) and sanction political party or party affiliation which meet the requirement but do not propose candidates.
Other academician which also gave input was Drs. Priyatmoko, M.A., as a lecturer in Department of Politics, FISIP UNAIR. He said that general election is a contest of politics which emphasizes the required opposition to achieve the power. He emphasized the importance of policies which regulate and prevent single candidacy to ever happen again in Regional General Election.
淭wo winning parties are obliged to propose candidates as logical system of parliamentary government. It is the consequence of winning. If only sanctions, they don檛 guarantee, elaborated Priyatmoko.
Priyatmoko also added that empirically, the map of general election winners after reformation has never been stable. Furthermore, governmental position is no longer something which is pursued as there are phenomena of single candidacy in some regions. (*)
