UNAIR NEWS –Public Health Faculty (FKM) BEM in collaboration with KSR PMI and Surabaya City PMI held blood donations on Tuesday (4/9).The blood donor activity uses SHARE BLOOD SHARE LOVE as the tagline which means that by donating blood, it means sharing love and caring for others.
Alifandra Azya, the chief executive of the blood donor activity explained, the activity was mostly attended by students.
“The donor participants reached hundreds of participants.Not only from FKM but also from other faculties, there are even friends from ITS who participated in this activity, “explained Andra.
According to Andra, the purpose of the activity is to accommodate FKM academic community so they can donate their blood and help others.In addition, there are many benefits obtained from blood donation activities such as reducing cholesterol level in the body and burning calories.
During preparation, Andra felt that there were not many obstacles found.However, the committee felt a bit discouraged because some were still in college, the place for donors was not prepared yet.
“To overcome this, my friends and I asked for a permission to leave the classroom and prepare the place andthank Godmy lecturer allowed us,” explained Andra.
Meanwhile, according to Andra, there were interesting things happened, many participants were initially afraid to donate and were not sure because they were afraid of needles.
“Many participants were initially afraid of donating their blood, and were not sure because they were afraid of needles.But I and my friends didn’t stop to convince and tell them that these activity have many benefits.After that, friends who were initially afraid of donation, after that wanted to participate again next time, “explained Andra.
Andra hoped that hopefully these activities can continue and give benefits to many people.In the future, Andra also hoped that in addition to blood donor activities, free health checks can also be carried out for blood donor participants.
