“The uniqueness of FKM UNAIR Dean Cup is from Health Debate Competition held themed Modern Lifestyle causing the onset of Degenerative Diseases,” said Taufik Imanuddin, FKM 2017 student.
The student explained that FKM is one of the faculties that focus on public health which prioritizes the prevention of disease, including degenerative disease.
“The health debate competition is suitable to open students’ insight to be more sensitive to the problems that occur,” said Opek.
The theme was related to changes in lifestyle due to urbanization and modernization.Changes in lifestyle can be seen clearly, such as the emergence of places to eat junk food in almost all regions of Indonesia, especially urban areas.
“People’s eating patterns tend to be instant, such as banana fries, tofu with filling, fried sweet potatoes, chocolate bananas (piscok), bala-bala, and others.Fried food causes a high risk of triggering degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, and stroke, ” he explained.

“The opening of the event was held last month, followed by the parade event, photo contest and basketball events on the same day.The basketball competition for men’s and women’s categories was won by Class 2015, ” he continued
