DECOTA Program becomes Nursing Science development strategy

UNAIR NEWS – The DECOTA ( Video Conferencing with 51动漫 ) program is one of the learning breakthroughs at the Faculty of Nursing, 51动漫 (FKp ). This replacement program for inbound staff activities is a program from Airlangga Global Scholar coordinated by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) UNAIR, which involves international academics to provide online courses, online guest lectures, or writing clinics in seminar classes.

“The DECOTA program is a program that invites lecturers from partner universities abroad who act as guest lecturers to give lectures online to 51动漫 students. With the program organized by AGE, the Faculty of Nursing implements it in the implementation of student learning, “said Dr. Yuni Sufyanti Arief, S.Kp., M.Kes as the Head of the Nursing Undergraduate Study Program (KPS).

In the even semester of 2020/2021, the DECOTA program has been implemented in the study program for regular students in semesters 4 and 6, second-semester transfer students, and nursing master (S2) study programs. For the DECOTA program, FKp UNAIR has collaborated with various foreign universities. For example, College of Nursing, King Khalid University, Visayas State University, Visca, City of Baybay, Leyte Philippines, School of Nursing Science, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, Department of Nursing, Sunway University Malaysia, College of Nursing, King Saud Bin Abdul Aziz University for health science, Riyadh, The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Principal Govt. College of Nursing Medical College and Hospital Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

Yuni explained that in one course, there is at least one topic given by foreign lecturers. However, not all courses have classes with foreign lecturers in the DECOTA program.

“For now, not all courses have meetings with foreign lecturers because each course must also adjust to the expertise possessed by lecturers from foreign university partners,” she explained.

Asked about the objective of implementing the DECOTA program, the lecturer knew well as Yuni explained that the program aims to broaden students’ insights from overseas nursing experts, which is undoubtedly useful for developing nursing science.

“Students can gain knowledge and experience from foreign lecturers who are of course experts in their scientific fields so that they get broader insights from experts in their respective scientific fields. Students can also share information and knowledge according to their field of expertise, ” she said.

Even though it is done online, it does not reduce the benefit in sharing knowledge and experiences from partner university lecturers abroad.

“For direct benefit, it might be seen when students apply their knowledge in society according to what they have gained during the learning process of foreign expert lecturers,” she concluded.
