UNAIR NEWS The East Java Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda Jatim) has collaborated with Faculty of Public Health (FKM UNAIR) to address tuberculosis (TBC) in the province. The partnership culminated in a final seminar held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Dewa Ruci Room, Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), on UNAIR檚 MERR-C Campus. This initiative is part of Bappeda Jatim檚 strategy to combat the disease.
The collaboration seeks to accelerate efforts to eliminate tuberculosis in East Java. Prof. Dr. Ratna Dwi Wulandari, SKM, MKes, chair of the initiative, stated that the Regional Action Plan (Rencana Aksi Daerah/ RAD) developed through this program would be submitted as part of a gubernatorial regulation.
淭he RAD document we are finalizing today will be attached to the governor檚 regulation, serving as a guideline for all districts, cities, and regional organizations (OPDs) to implement consistent tuberculosis control measures, explained Prof. Wulandari.
Tuberculosis mitigation urgency
Tuberculosis cases have continued to rise throughout 2024, positioning Indonesia as the world檚 second-largest contributor to the global tuberculosis burden. To tackle this crisis, Bappeda Jatim, in collaboration with FKM UNAIR, has designed the RAD in alignment with various sectors and OPDs to ensure a unified approach.
