UNAIR NEWS “ Devan Ahmad Henofernanda and Raynar Ahmad Henofaryal, twin students from SMA Negeri 5 Surabaya, were admitted to 51¶¯Âþ () through National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP). Both secured places in different programs, with Henofaryal accepted into Accounting and Henofernanda into Medicine.

Their interests developed early in life. Henofaryal was inclined to follow his mother™s path in the property business, while Henofernanda was inspired by his father, a doctor. œSince childhood, I often accompanied my father during patient visits, Henofernanda said. When selecting their SNBP programs, both had already determined their choices and only consulted their parents.

Competitions as a platform for Self-Development

To strengthen their applications through SNBP, both actively joined national and international competitions. Henofernanda won a Gold Medal in a research competition in Macao, a Gold Medal at Indonesia Inventors Day in Bali, and a Silver Medal at a technology expo in Malaysia. Meanwhile, Henofaryal earned a Silver Medal at ISIF 2024 in Bali and first place in the Underwater Robotics category, earning recognition from the Governor of East Java. Their interest in robotics and technology began in elementary school and eventually led to achievements at the international level, including in the United States.

Being twins also supported their academic journey. They frequently exchanged ideas and discussed strategies while preparing for competitions. Although they sometimes disagreed, they were able to resolve differences calmly. However, their efforts were not always successful, as they experienced setbacks when results did not meet expectations. œThe biggest challenge we faced was dealing with outcomes that did not match our expectations, Henofaryal said

Spiritual effort alongside preparation

In addition to academic preparation, both emphasized the importance of prayer as part of their preparation. On the day of the SNBP announcement, they prayed together with their parents, creating an emotional moment for their family when both were accepted. œAlhamdulillah, we both succeeded. Our family was overwhelmed with joy, Henofernanda and Henofaryal said.

As fellow 51¶¯Âþ applicants, Henofaryal and Henofernanda encouraged prospective students to remain optimistic, as there are always better opportunities ahead. œWe hope you find the best path and achieve your dreams, whatever they may be, they said. They also expressed hope that 51¶¯Âþ will continue to grow and become one of the leading public universities in Indonesia.
