UNAIR NEWS Humanitarian issues in Palestine were once again highlighted through the talkshow Inspiring Mission for Palestine & Change (IMPACT). The event took place at the Hall on the first floor of Nuruzzaman Mosque, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, 51动漫 (), on Friday, March 13, 2026. The talkshow marked the final series of the Ramadan Mubarak Airlangga (RMA) program organized by UNAIR.
In his opening remarks, Chair of RMA, Abdur Rouuf, expressed his hope that the activity could raise greater awareness among Muslims to speak up about humanitarian issues in Palestine. According to him, the current condition of the Muslim community is concerning.
淎lhamdulillah, we have finally reached the last series of RMA events, the Grand Closing of IMPACT. This afternoon, we will discuss the condition of our brothers and sisters in the Middle East, as the current state of Islam is truly under threat, he stated.

The activity not only discussed ongoing humanitarian issues in Palestine but also invited students to understand the history of Baitul Maqdis and the political dynamics that contribute to conflicts in the Middle East.
Understanding the history of Baitul Maqdis
Baitul Maqdis means a sacred land. According to the speaker, Nur Pasca Aijijiyah, Baitul Maqdis has a long history closely related to the journeys of the prophets.
淏aitul Maqdis is deeply connected to the history of the prophets. It is where the first place of worship was established by Prophet Adam, which was later structurally renewed by subsequent prophets, she explained.
She also elaborated that Baitul Maqdis is part of the Syam region, which historically includes Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, parts of Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Ardhul Muqaddasah refers to a sacred area that serves as a center for three major religions: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.
Modern condition of Baitul Maqdis and liberation efforts
The region of Baitul Maqdis has experienced various political upheavals throughout history. This was conveyed by Izza Zulfatul Aufi, who added that the Crusades in the medieval period significantly divided the Muslim community at that time, even though Baitul Maqdis was eventually reclaimed during the era of Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi.
淭herefore, the Prophet advised Muslims not to turn away from Baitul Maqdis. The strategy for its liberation has been outlined in the Qur檃n, a significant portion of which discusses Baitul Maqdis. This aligns with the Prophet檚 teaching that when the mindset of Muslims is enlightened, Baitul Maqdis can be liberated, she stated.
The member of Tahrir Al-Aqsha Surabaya also highlighted the establishment of Israel in 1948, which was accompanied by the Nakba, or the mass displacement of Palestinians from their land. This event remains one of the root causes of the ongoing conflict today.
The continuing humanitarian crisis in Palestine serves as a reminder for Muslims not to turn a blind eye. The liberation of Baitul Maqdis cannot be achieved without first transforming the mindset of the Muslim community.
