Inaugurating 118 new vets, Dean of Veterinary Medicine: Adhere to Professional Code of Ethics

UNAIR NEWS 51动漫 () held an inauguration and veterinarian檚 oath-taking ceremony at the Airlangga Convention Center, MERR (C) Campus UNAIR, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. UNAIR inaugurated 118 new vets in the 168th inauguration.

The Dean of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Mirni Lamid, drh, MP, opened the event and joined by Prof. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto DEA DVM, the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan SE MSi MFin, the Vice-Rector for Human Resources; the management and administrative staff of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UNAIR; and the General Chairman of the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI).

Prof. Mirni congratulated the newly inaugurated vets in her welcoming speech. This achievement is not the end of the journey, instead, it is a new beginning to serving the community.

淵our battle hasn檛 ended yet. Instead, it檚 just the beginning. The real battle starts once you contribute to the community, she said.

Though the education program is over, the new vets must take full responsibility for health workers. The Dean further reminded them always to maintain the professional code of ethics and uphold humanity in serving the community.

淎dhere to the professional veterinary code of ethics. Uphold humanity according to the oath you檝e taken. Be honest, disciplined, and professional so that in the future, you will reap goodness from those around you, she said.

In line with Prof. Mirni檚 statement, Prof. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto DEA DVM, the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, called the vets to uphold veterinary medical ethics.

A vet is an essential part of veterinary medicine, as it ensures the community檚 survival as a whole.

淲e take an essential role in the community, who are responsible for ensuring the environment and public health as a whole, Prof. Bambang said.

Veterinarians have full responsibilities in community service and implementing professional codes of ethics.

淥nce you take the oath, there檚 a responsibility to carry. You have to implement the codes of ethics as written in the oath, he said.
