Infographic: Dengue Fever cases in Indonesia

UNAIR NEWS - According to data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia as of March 1, 2024, 160,000 cases of dengue fever spread across 213 regions in Indonesia. Professor Dr. Phil Toetik Koesbardiati, an anthropology expert from (UNAIR), explained that geographical factor of Indonesia as well as changes in its natural environment, weather, and climate also influence the spread of dengue fever (DBD). This is further exacerbated by Indonesia’s condition as a tropical country with high rainfall, which creates stagnant water as an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Several countermeasures were made to combat the spread of dengue fever, including draining bathtubs and water containers regularly at least once a week, avoiding piling up clothes for too long, and using mosquito nets to prevent bites.
