UNAIR NEWS “Indonesian New Generation Community(GenBI)51¶¯Âþ (UNAIR) started activities at the beginning of the year with a Cleaning Movement (Geber)on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
The head of the organizer of Geber, Teryancho Timmotheus Inaray, said that he had coordinated with several parties, including Satpol PP and garbage transporters, so that the activities could run well. “We did this Geber Action as a form of concern for the environment in order to create a clean, sustainable and waste-free environment,” said Tery, who is also UNAIR vocational student.
Genbi Community is a student recipient ofBank Indonesiaawardee scholarship.ÌýDuring the activity, the Genbiawardees spread to different parts of the beach to clean up scattered trash, twigs, tree branches, and plastic.ÌýThey collected approximately 15trash bags and immediately transported them by garbage trucks that had stood by since morning.
During the cleaning activity, many tourists were enjoying destinations around the beach, such as Suroboyo Park and several culinary spots near the beach. Thus, many people helped pick up trash.
“Alhamdulillah, Geber was able to trigger direct community involvement.ÌýIn my opinion, this is one of the driving forces in improving concern and cleanliness.ÌýA clean and healthy environment will attract more tourists to a tourist destination,” he said.
Activities like this, continued Tery, are expected to continue, meaning that it will not just this one time.ÌýBut it should be held even once a year, or a few times. It is important to be held regularly.Ìý(*)
