One-on-One Workshop on Academic Writing and Publication Coaching: Strengthening FH UNAIR’s Position in International Publications

Faculty of Law 51¶¯Âþ (FH UNAIR), to improve the writing quality of FH UNAIR lecturers, held a publication acceleration workshop One on One Academic Writing and Publication Coaching Workshop on 5 – 6 November 2022. The activity aimed at improving the writing quality of FH UNAIR lecturers became High-level academic writing and strengthening FH UNAIR’s position in international publications was initiated by the FH UNAIR Research, Development, Publishing, and Scientific Publication Unit (UP4I).

UP4I is a support unit that focuses on two activities of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: research and community service. Every year, FH UNAIR allocates many funds to implement research activities and community service. The UP4I unit is designed to facilitate, establish guidelines, and supervise the implementation of research and community service activities.

Dr. Intan Inayatun Soeparno, Head of UP4I FH UNAIR, said that UP4I is here to help writers to improve the quality of their papers by bringing in foreign tutors and finding suitable journals. One of the tutors in the workshop was Professor Joe Tanega from Vrije University Brussels, Belgium.

“This workshop was held because of the enthusiasm of FH UNAIR lecturers who wanted to improve the quality of their writing, so UP4I provided an experienced professor for guidance. But the success of this program still depends on each writer,” said Intan.

Intan explained that the participants of this publication acceleration workshop were FH UNAIR lecturers who had collected abstracts. In the 2022 program, he continued, 20 abstracts were selected from 20 authors, but only 14 were willing to participate in the workshop program.

“In addition to helping writers improve the quality of their writing, this activity also aims to direct writers on high-quality academic writing and to build a writing culture among lecturers,” said Intan.

Intan also expressed her hope as Chair of UP4I for holding workshops. He hoped that all FH UNAIR lecturers would have a writing culture after knowing how to write correctly and adequately to achieve high-quality academic writing.

“Hopefully, FH UNAIR can also hold this workshop program regularly to achieve maximum results,” Intan concluded.
