UNAIR NEWS The pharmaceutical industry has become one of the most dynamic sectors and has a broad impact on global public health. Responding to these significant opportunities, the Career Development and Alumni Impact Center (PKKA) of (UNAIR) organized an Airlangga Career & Internship Club webinar titled Navigating Your Career & Creating Impact in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
The webinar, which was held online via the Zoom Meeting platform on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, aimed to provide students and alumni with a clear overview of career prospects in a global biopharmaceutical company. The webinar featured Aziza Fitriani, Human Resource Business Partner at AstraZeneca Indonesia, as the main speaker.
Transforming healthcare through scientific innovation
In her presentation, Fitriani explained that the pharmaceutical field has now transformed far beyond merely producing medicines. The sector focuses on an ecosystem of discovery, development, and ensuring that patients gain access to appropriate therapies efficiently. Indonesia itself holds a strategic role as the largest pharmaceutical market in the ASEAN region, with a population of more than 270 million people that opens broad opportunities for healthcare innovation.
淎straZeneca continues to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem in Indonesia through various breakthroughs, ranging from oncology, cardiovascular, and respiratory fields to the treatment of rare diseases, said Fitriani. She also added that AstraZeneca檚 commitment in Indonesia has continued for more than 54 years.
Strategic career opportunities and future competencies
Furthermore, Fitriani elaborated on various strategic roles available for university graduates, particularly in the Medical and Marketing divisions. The Medical division holds a critical responsibility in ensuring that every product is supported by accurate scientific evidence through roles such as Medical Scientific Liaison. Meanwhile, the Marketing division focuses on brand positioning and market strategies to ensure that healthcare solutions can reach the wider community.
To compete in this highly competitive industry, Fitriani emphasized the importance of mastering multidisciplinary competencies. In addition to strong scientific understanding, future professionals are expected to possess project management skills, adaptive communication abilities, and an analytical and strategic mindset.

Through the webinar initiated by Career Development and Alumni Impact Center (PKKA) UNAIR, students are expected to be better prepared to map out their career paths and contribute professionally on the global stage.
