UNAIR NEWS Sustainable Development Goals Center (SDGs Center) hosted the 2025 SDGs Ambassador Camp on Saturday (June 28, 2025). The event was part of Airlangga Movement for SDGs Awareness (AMORA) 2025 initiative. Held at the Dayak Room, ASEEC Tower, Dharmawangsa B Campus, the camp was designed to prepare ten finalists to serve as the next cohort of SDGs Ambassadors.

On the first day, participants engaged in sessions covering the SDGs Center檚 programs, character and ethical development, and public speaking. Several expert speakers shared their knowledge. Hakim Zulkarnain, S.Kep., Ns., M.SN., a lecturer from UNAIR檚 Faculty of Nursing, introduced the SDGs Center檚 key initiatives, including the Call for Community Service (Pengmas), Call for Research, and more.

Ethics and character development

The next session focused on ethics and character, delivered by Dr. Dewi Retno Suminar, M.Si., Psychologist, from the Faculty of Psychology. She discussed how the finalists could build authentic personal branding. According to her, personal branding is not only about projecting an image but also about how others perceive us.

淥ften, we become fixated on how we present ourselves and forget to consider how others actually see us. That檚 when it becomes image-building rather than true personal branding, Dr. Suminar remarked.

Dr. Suminar guided the finalists through interactive exercises to compare self-perception with how they are perceived by others. She stressed the importance of self-reflection and the ability to accept feedback. She noted that a crucial aspect of personal branding is knowing one檚 place and role. 淭he most important thing is understanding where you stand and what role you are expected to play. That檚 what professionalism looks like, she said.

Public speaking

Dr. Pulung Siswantara, S.KM., M.Kes., led the session on public speaking. He emphasized several essential components, including self-confidence, speech clarity, and body language. A lecturer from the Faculty of Public Health, he reminded participants that public speaking involves more than just speaking.

淭he core of public speaking is knowing your content. One way to ensure that is by reading. Even though it檚 called 榮peaking, it檚 also about reading and listening. The more you read and listen, the more equipped you are to speak effectively, he explained.

The day concluded with a Leaderless Group Discussion (LGD) facilitated by Edith Frederika Puruhito, S.KM., MSc (MedSci), a lecturer at the Faculty of Vocational Studies. The ten finalists engaged enthusiastically in the collaborative session.
