UNAIR NEWS has officially gained 66 international accreditations as an attempt to improve the educational quality equivalent to internationally reputable campuses.
Ten UNAIR study programs have gained international accreditation by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), an accreditation agency based in Germany. They are the Law Undergraduate Program (S1), Psychology Undergraduate Program (S1), Linguistics Master檚 Program (S2), English Language and Literature Undergraduate Program (S1), Indonesian Language and Literature Undergraduate Program (S1), Japanese Studies Undergraduate Program (S1), History Undergraduate Program (S1), International Relations Undergraduate Program (S1), Public Administration Undergraduate Program (S1), and Law Master檚 Program (S2).
The seven accredited study programs got excellent results, with some criteria exceeding the requirements and exceptional results. According to the Head of UNAIR Quality Assurance Board (BPM), Prof. Nurul Barizah SH LLM Ph.D. on Friday, August 5, 2022, the accreditation results show the excellent qualities of UNAIR study programs.
Five criteria
Five criteria must be fulfilled as the main standard of FIBAA. First the study program檚 objective. Prof Nurul explained that the study program should have clear objectives, learning outcomes, and a graduate profile that conforms to national and FIBAA standards.
淚t includes measuring the position of study programs in the market of education, manpower, and with the whole concept of higher education, she explained.
Another aspect of this assessment is the competence of graduates to work and compete in the international job market.
Second, curriculum. Prof Nurul stated that curriculum plays an essential role in the assessment. For this context, the study program curriculum is developed by considering the international aspect, so the students have excellent skills to compete globally.
Third, the model of student admission. This aspect observes the admission program, whether it provides information and counseling regarding the study programs for the prospective new students.
淏esides, the student admission process must be transparent, fair, and equitable for all gender, race, ethnicity, and so on, added the lecturer of UNAIR Faculty of Law.
Fourth, work environment, scientific environment, and resources. This aspect correlates to the faculty details, such as the teaching capacity of lecturer, internationality lecturer, and research publication on teaching competence. Besides, the student facility for the teaching and learning process so that they graduate on time is also assessed aspects.
淔or instance, student counseling, financial support for poor students, library access, and alumni support, she said.
Lastly, quality assurance and documentation assess the university檚 system, process, and quality assurance mechanism. It corresponds with the level of student satisfaction with lecturers, graduate users, alumni, and other stakeholders.
The Information and Library Science Undergraduate Program (S1) and Communications Undergraduate Program (S1) are currently waiting for the results. In addition, 13 study programs from UNAIR Faculty of Economics and Business are currently under FIBAA檚 assessment.
