UNAIR NEWS “Students can make the most of their college days by taking any opportunities available, including going abroad without charge.Three students at (UNAIR): Muhammad Anang Jazuli and Firman HidayatFaculty of Science and Technology,Class of 2019) and Achmad Chasina Aula (Faculty of Dental Medicine, Class of 2020).They became UNAIR delegates in the 2023 Youth Leaders Exchange And Conference (YLEC) program, held in three countries, and won several awards.
Anang explained the big theme,Building Capacity of New Leaders for Indonesia’s Golden Generation.They were divided into groups to discuss sub-themes such as education, tourism, socio-culture, economics, and language, which were then presented during the conference.
“My team and I got the economics and tourism sub-theme then.We presented Digitour Indonesia as a platform to promote tourism villages in Indonesia.Thanks to this idea, we got theBest Group, Best Delegate,andBest Oralist,” said the former Head of BEM FST when interviewed by UNAIRNEWS on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
Firman and Achmad also receivedOutstanding Delegate Performancedue to their liveliness during the discussion forum.Apart from the conference, city toursandcampus touractivities were also included.They visitediconicplaces such as the National University of Singapore, Universiti Malaya, and Prince of Songkla University, Thailand.
They had to struggle to make that achievement. They underwent rigorous selections, from paper selection and interviews to Focus Group Discussions (FGD). From approximately 300 registrants, they made it to 40 qualified delegates.
Furthermore, Firman said it could not be separated from UNAIR’s assistance to support their students to be able to compete and have the global capacity, the Directorate of Student Affairs (Dirmawa) and Airlangga Global Global Engagement (AGE) provide full support, both in allocating funds and managing permits for theinternational exposureprogram.
Achmad added that as a young man, experience is an investment that will be very useful in the future. “We consider that the internationalization of insight, experience, and self-capacity must be fulfilled to answer the challenges of demographic bonuses in 2045,” said the FKG professional student.
