UNAIR NEWS The Student Executive Board of Faculty of Pharmacy, 51动漫 (BEM FF ), hosted an Alumni Sharing session titled Unveiling Hidden Paths in Pharmacy on Saturday (October 25, 2025), via Zoom Meeting. The session featured an alumnus working in the field of forensic pharmacy, providing insights into career prospects beyond the conventional clinical and pharmaceutical industry routes. It also served as a platform for students to ask questions about real-world experiences and professional development strategies.
The session opened with remarks from a student executive board representative who emphasized the importance of career exploration for future pharmacists. Hundreds of participants joined enthusiastically, listening closely to the speaker檚 experiences. Many actively submitted questions through the chat box, covering topics such as postgraduate education, technical expertise, and internship opportunities within forensic institutions.
Exploring field of forensic pharmacy
The keynote speaker, Kombes Pol Kuswardani, S.Si., Apt., M.Farm., Head of the Division of Pharmacy and Medical Devices at KAFARMAPOL, Police Health Center (Pusdokkes Polri), and a 1995 alumnus of UNAIR檚 Faculty of Pharmacy, shared his career journey and professional insights. 淧harmacists play a significant role in science-based law enforcement. Expertise in chemistry and toxicology is crucial for analyzing physical evidence, he explained.
Kuswardani elaborated those advanced technologies such as HPLC, GC-MS, HRMS, and PCR have become essential tools in forensic analysis, all grounded in pharmaceutical science. He highlighted the importance of scientific integrity, stressing that 渁nalytical results represent verifiable facts, not opinions. He also encouraged students to take part in workshops and laboratory training to strengthen their readiness for professional challenges ahead.

Pathways to success and self-development
In addition to technical insights, the speaker shared strategies for personal growth and career management. He emphasized that soft skills such as communication, attention to detail, and analytical thinking are vital to success in the workplace. 淧harmaceutical knowledge becomes more impactful when paired with adaptability and cross-disciplinary collaboration, Kuswardani noted.
He encouraged students to join organizations, attend seminars, and pursue professional certifications to broaden their networks. 淥pportunities don檛 always appear in traditional forms. Being open to new experiences can lead you to a career path that truly fits your potential, he said. Kuswardani also advised students to make use of professional networking platforms like LinkedIn to highlight their skills and experiences.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A discussion, during which students asked about career paths within law enforcement and forensic research institutions.
