UNAIR NEWS The Student Association of the Master檚 Program in Literary and Cultural Studies (HIMA MKSB) at the Faculty of Humanities, 51动漫 (UNAIR), signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) with the American Studies Student
Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). The agreement was signed on Thursday (May 15, 2025) at the Soegondo Building, Faculty of Humanities, UGM.
Ilham Baskoro, Chair of HIMA MKSB UNAIR, stated that the primary aim of the agreement is to expand the organization檚 network beyond its home institution. 淭hrough this collaboration, we aim to expand our connections so they are not limited to UNAIR but also extend to other universities, including UGM, he said.
Baskoro explained that the MoU serves as a foundation for future collaboration. 淭he agreement includes provisions that regulate how the partnership will be implemented, including the rights and responsibilities of each party. In essence, it serves as a foundation for joint activities moving forward, he added.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both institutions. From UGM, participants included Dr. Aris Munandar, M.Hum., Head of the Master檚 Program in American Studies, and HIMA Chair Glory Emanuella. From UNAIR, attendees included Dr. Nadya Afdholy, S.Hum., M.Pd., M.Hum., faculty advisor to HIMA MKSB, along with Baskoro and the organization檚 executive members.
The initiative received a warm and enthusiastic response from UGM檚 American Studies Student Association. 淭he reception from UGM was exceptional. They were highly supportive and welcoming. We were even provided with a large auditorium, which made us feel greatly appreciated. Overall, they responded very positively to our
plans, Baskoro said.
Looking ahead
Baskoro expressed hopes that the MoU will help expand HIMA MKSB檚 network beyond UNAIR and inspire other student organizations within the Faculty of Humanities to broaden their academic engagement. 淲e also hope this collaboration will help introduce the Master檚 Program in Literary and Cultural Studies, as well as the Faculty of Humanities at UNAIR, at the national level, he noted.
The agreement is expected to mark the beginning of continued collaboration between the two organizations, contributing to academic development and strengthening student networks at both universities.
