UNAIR NEWS听 Seventeen delegates of Faculty of Science and Technology (听听)听51动漫听(UNAIR) left for Iraq on Saturday, May 6, 2023.听One of the delegates, Prof. Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah from the Department of Chemistry, was a听keynote speaker at the international event, while 16 other lecturers became presenters at the International Conference and Workshop on Basic and Applied Science (ICOWOBAS) 2023. A series of events were held at Tishk International University (TIU) Kurdistan, Iraq.
Attending the conference were more than 200 participants from nine countries.听The conference檚 theme was:听To Present and Exchange Innovative Viable Ideas Relating to the Basic and Applied Sciences.听It discussed various research results, findings, innovations, and research experiences.听Also, knowledge about the future of pure science, applied science, and interdisciplinary applications.
ICOWOBAS-2023 is an academic activity to offer opportunities for researchers in the Kurdistan-Iraq Region to gather, share innovative ideas, discuss issues, and collaborate in areas that allow academic collaboration with international participants.

ICOWOBAS is a routine bi-annual agenda hosted in turns by UNAIR, TIU, Salahaddin University Erbil (SUE), and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). This activity has been done since 2007.
Apart from attending international seminars, all delegates also visited the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) at the Erbil International Hotel. The Ambassador to Iraq, Elmar Iwan Lubis, and the staff welcomed the delegates visit.
淚nsight into the condition of the surrounding community, and opportunities for cooperation and opportunities to offer Masters and Doctoral degrees at UNAIR were also very encouraged by the Indonesian Embassy, explained Yanuardi Raharjo MSc PhD, a delegate who was also a speaker and a member of organizing committee at ICOWOBAS 2023 activities.
The visit is expected to foster broader collaborative activities, especially in inviting postgraduate students to learn at UNAIR. (*)
