UNAIR NEWS (UNAIR) reaffirms its dedication to supporting students throughout their educational journey by offering a variety of scholarship programs. Through partnerships with government bodies and private institutions, UNAIR ensures that students have access to numerous financial aid opportunities designed to ease their financial burdens.
Prof Dr Hadi Subhan SH MH CN, Director of Student Affairs, highlighted that these programs are vital in assisting economically disadvantaged students. Each year, the Directorate of Student Affairs plays an active role in disseminating information and acting as a liaison between scholarship providers and recipients.
College KIP aid
Prof. Subhan underscored the significance of the Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (College – KIP) program, which has become a cornerstone of UNAIR檚 scholarship offerings. In 2024, approximately 1,400 new students benefited from KIP-K scholarships, which cover tuition fees for the entirety of their studies and provide monthly living allowances.
淭his program supports about 20% of UNAIR檚 economically disadvantaged students, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial barriers. Although the number of KIP-K recipients fluctuates annually, it remains a critical resource for undergraduate and diploma students, Prof. Subhan noted.
Collaborations across sectors
UNAIR also collaborates with numerous organizations to expand scholarship opportunities. These partnerships include local government initiatives, such as those offered by the Surabaya city government, and private sector programs supported by institutions like BCA and various foundations. Students can find detailed information about these scholarships through the official Instagram account of the Directorate of Student Affairs.
淓ach scholarship has its own eligibility criteria, determined by the provider. The Directorate of Student Affairs acts as an intermediary, relaying information to relevant faculties or departments. Some scholarships are specifically designed for certain academic programs, narrowing the pool of eligible applicants, Prof. Subhan explained.
Prof. Subhan also highlighted the availability of scholarships from Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia at the beginning of this year. He encouraged students in need to actively seek scholarship opportunities, emphasizing the Directorate檚 commitment to helping underprivileged students secure financial aid. 淭he Directorate of Student Affairs is committed to supporting underprivileged students in applying for scholarships. In addition to scholarships, students facing financial hardships can apply for tuition fee reductions that align with their financial circumstances, he concluded.
