UNAIR NEWS – The Dental Health Technology (TKG) Study Program at 檚 Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV UNAIR) hosted a guest lecture and corporate introduction featuring Rata Dental on Monday, November 17, 2025. The session brought together Dr. Sianiwati Goenharto, drg., MS, Coordinator of the Dental Health Technology Study Program; faculty members; administrative staff; TKG students and alumni; and representatives from PT Rupa Aestetika Teknologi Aktual (Rata Dental).
Dr. Sianiwati Goenharto opened the event by underscoring the need for strong, ongoing collaboration between vocational education and industry. She noted that neither sector can work in isolation, particularly amid a digital era that demands rapid technological advancement across health professions.
In her remarks, she expressed appreciation for the participation of PT Rupa Aestetika Teknologi Aktual and conveyed hope that the partnership will continue to grow. She highlighted the importance of improving student competencies and enabling more career opportunities for alumni, stressing that vocational graduates must continuously advance their skills and stay current with emerging technologies to remain competitive.
Digital transformation in dental technology
Viki Maizan, ST, Head of Manufacturing at Rata Dental, followed with a presentation explaining that digital transformation now underpins the production of modern dental devices. He noted that nearly every manufacturing step at Rata, ranging from intraoral scanning and tooth-movement design to aligner production, has been fully digitalized.

He also emphasized the need to bridge academic knowledge with the practical competencies required by the industry. 淭he dental technology field is evolving rapidly. Students need to understand fundamental concepts on campus while also keeping up with advancing technologies, he stated.
Next, Rata Dental檚 talent acquisition team introduced the company檚 profile, service divisions, technology platforms, and the expansion of Rata clinics across major Indonesian cities. The team also spotlighted several UNAIR alumni currently employed at Rata as an example of how academic搃ndustry collaboration can translate into real career success.
Aligner technology overview and interactive dialogue
During the main session, Rata Dental delivered an in-depth explanation of aligner technology, production processes, and the use of artificial intelligence in modeling tooth movement. Participants were given a complete look at the digital workflow, from scanning and design to manufacturing transparent orthodontic devices.

Students showed strong enthusiasm, supported by visual demonstrations. Several participants raised questions about the skills required in the field, potential career tracks, and the latest digital innovations shaping dentistry and dental technology.
Career prospects for UNAIR TKG graduates
The event concluded with a hiring and interview segment for UNAIR檚 D3 and D4 TKG alumni. Rata Dental opened recruitment opportunities for graduates interested in dental technology, digital manufacturing, and technology-driven health services.
Through this initiative, the study program aims to strengthen long-term collaboration between vocational education and industry. The expectation is that students and alumni will be better equipped to adapt to technological advancements and thrive in an increasingly competitive job market.
