UNAIR NEWS (UNAIR) welcomed a delegation from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) for a benchmarking session focused on advancing global reputation indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations, and business performance. The meeting was held at the Plenary Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Balai RUA building, MERR-C Campus, on Friday (Nov. 21, 2025).
Prof Miftahussurur, Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development (RICD), together with leaders from related units, warmly received the delegation. In his opening statement, he outlined UNAIR檚 long-term efforts to strengthen its global standing. He emphasized that building an international reputation requires sustained commitment.

淲e formed our (ranking, ed) team years ago, and our approach differs from that of other universities. Adjustments are necessary, our steps vary, and so does our institutional culture, he said.
Long road toward global recognition
Echoing his remarks, Dian Ekowati, SE, M.Si., M.AppCom(OrgCh), Ph.D., Head of UNAIR檚 Planning and Development Board (BPP), noted that UNAIR has undergone a significant journey to achieve its current global presence. 淩eputation is always evolving, and we certainly experienced difficult phases along the way, she said.
Representing UMY, Dr. Mega Hidayati, S.Ag., S.S., M.A., Head of Planning and Global Reputation Board, expressed appreciation for UNAIR檚 accomplishments in global rankings, such as QS WUR, THE Impact Rankings, and others. 淲e hope to learn from each other because UNAIR has shown remarkable progress. In the rankings, UNAIR has performed exceptionally well. Even though we are a private university and UNAIR is a public one, I believe the spirit and knowledge can be shared openly, she stated.
