UNAIR NEWS – (UNAIR) held a strategic meeting to discuss partnerships and collaboration with Management & Science University (MSU), Malaysia. The meeting was also attended by Jakarta Global University (JGU), which is also involved in the partnership between UNAIR and MSU. The event took place at the Plenary Session Room, Campus MERR-C, on Friday, August 4, 2023.
Expanding partnerships
Attending the meeting were Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, Rector of 51¶¯Âþ; Prof Tan Sri Dato Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yazid, Rector of Management & Science University (MSU), Malaysia; and Prof Dr apt Eddy Yusuf M Pharm, Rector of Jakarta Global University (JGU).
Representatives of UNAIR, MSU, and JGU discussed the collaborative plan in greater depth. The discussion focused on the follow-up actions from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between UNAIR and MSU, involving the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Economics and Business.
Prof Nasih explained that currently, UNAIR and MSU have collaborated in several programs, including the Double Degree Program in the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF), the Biomedical Engineering Study Program under the Kampus Merdeka program, research collaboration, and student mobility with the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), administrative staff mobility, student mobility, joint research, and the Double Degree program with the Master of Business and Administration in the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), as well as research collaboration through the Agreement of Research Collaboration (Airlangga Post-Doctoral) with the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidisciplinary Studies (FTMM).
“We support the development of the collaboration of MSU with other faculties, such as the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Public Health (FKM), Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM), and the Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV). We hope to collaborate in various multidisciplinary fields,” he stated.
Strengthening relationships
Prof Tan Sri, as the Rector of MSU, expressed his pride in being able to collaborate with UNAIR since 2016. He appreciated all the positive impacts that have been generated during the partnership. Through this collaboration, sustainable innovations have been created in various fields.

MSU also acknowledged UNAIR’s achievements, which have been highly regarded among the top universities in Asia. Thus, the collaboration presents a strategic opportunity for the future.
“We hope there will be more opportunities for future collaborations. It will also strengthen the relationships between universities and even between Indonesia and Malaysia,” he added.
Ready to Join as a Partner
Prof Eddy, as Rector of JGU, expressed the university’s readiness to participate in the collaborative programs between UNAIR and MSU. He believed that all the programs could open up even broader collaborative opportunities. Therefore, JGU intends to play a role in building this partnership.
“The existing potential for collaboration will undoubtedly bring even broader impacts, in line with our commitment as a partner in supporting the collaboration between UNAIR and MSU,” he explained.
